Yes it is!!! I really like it very much!! Convenient location, close to the metropolitan area and other areas of interest. Great, comfortable, clean villas. Steps away from the beach.

This facility is located on the beach and it has a nice pool, although its not huge. Tourism in PR is safe, you should not have any problem. This place is very close to supermarkets, restaurants and fast food places, Walgreens, etc. If you like to walk it would be about a 10 minute walk. Having a car will allow you to visit interesting places around the island, and there are many. I suggest you visit www.gotopuertorico.com. to look at the fantastic places to visit. People in Puerto Rico are very warm and friendly, most of them speak English and it's very easy to find your way around.

Aquarius is conveniently located and from there you can move. Having a car is a must if you want to visit around. If you just want to relax, the facilities have three restaurants (remember, Aquarius Dorado is at the Embassy Suites) and the villas have a kitchen were you can cook.

The important tourit spots can be as close as a 20 minute drive or as far as a two hour drive, there are many to choose from.

You won't regret your visit to PR. Enjoy!!

Unfortunately, the Dorado Aquarius has undergone a dramatic deterioration, and the hotel portion was very disappointing. Refrigerators were rusting and defective, the toaster was broken, the kitchen had only a frypan, a saucepan, incomplete sets of dishes and mismatched silverware (and no replacements were available). The sofa/bed had a broken frame and was almost unusable, and although we had sheets they were mismatched and too short for the beds. Noting a bed without blankets, we called and were told no blankets were available (they said the management refused to let them order new supplies, but they would instead bring two sheets to help) and the bedspreads were soiled and had large tears in the surfaces. The carpets were so soiled that our bare feet were black within a few minutes. The resort's phones often were unanswered even during the day, and we were overbilled several times, though they corrected the errors after protests.

On the positive side, the staff were friendly and apologetic, the beach was great, and the pool(s) seemed very clean, but I note that they were shared with the Embassy Suites Hotel (different owners) who may have taken over maintenance.

Would we (4 couples) stay there again? Unfortunately, no. It appears the hotel is in a continuing downward spiral and is in desperate need of new owners and financing. Overall rating C minus at best.

Thanks for you post! Do you have any suggestions for other places to stay in PR that would have similar size accomidations? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I don't have a lot of experience in Puerto Rico (4 visits), but I'd check out a few places:

In the Dorado area: (many beaches are very rocky or absent) Embassy Suites (next door to the Aquarius, shares pool), recently had change of ownership and guests said they were happy with accommodations. Hyatt Regency - very nice, though pricey.

In the Humacao (sp?) area: Palmas del Mer (may have undergone name change, no longer part of RCI exchange / Starwood): fantastic beaches, small but nice pools (2), restaurant was not highly rated but many other good ones near. Rooms were not unusually fancy but clean and comfortable. Stayed there a year ago and we all (6) would return again.

Hope it helps! Dave

Hi again! I looked into Palmas Del Mar and it sounds good, however, I read somewhere that it is a far walk to the beach. Is there a particular building near the beach that I should request? I am a little confused by the layout of the property Thanks for all of your help!

It looked like my response might have gotten wiped out, so I'll send it again. I hope I'm not repeating myself.

When we stayed there, we had a room close to the upper pool, and it was perhaps a 75 yard walk to the beach along a path, and slightly shorter to go the casino and main office. They probably have areas farther away, but we felt we were very close to the beach, though it was not in sight from our room.

I own a timeshare at Aquarius. In my opinion the place is very clean. The kitchen utensils are all in excellent condition and working properly. The furniture and bed sheets are clean and well kept. The beach area is simply gorgeous.Makes me want to stay out there for very long hours! I have zero complaints, except for the fee they charge for a parking spot. I think this is so unfair. We have invested enough money already. I really believe the parking should be for free.
