Booking Weeks

I am new to timeshares and was wondering if anyone ever has problems getting the weeks they want at the Hotel they bought at? I bought at the Mayan Palace Mayan Riviera.. I have a registered week and vacation fair week, floating red.

How far in advance can I and should I book for the resort I bought at or any of the others in Mexico? Will the registered week and vacation fair week be different for availability? Do I have to use the registered one before the floating one?

I was told if I rent out the average price I will get is $1700 US per week. Has anyone done this and who do you give it to for rental if you dont want to exchange or accrue?

Any help would be great, these questions I haven't seen answered in other forums, I hope I am not duplicating questions..
