Fairway Village at Shawnee

Review of II Exchange into Shawnee Villages

Sep 01, 2009

We chose the Pocono region for our honeymoon for specific reasons. We enjoy motorcycling and live about 5 hours away, only a one day ride. We found that the II info was misleading in that it stated most activities and amenities were on-site. ( pools,Fitness center, planned resort activities, etc.) In fact these were 1.5 miles away from Fairway Villages. The resort is not self contained, but spread out over public roads and residential side roads. We found this inconvienient, but to be fair, there is a shuttle. We experienced a resort in transition of ownership(to Wyndam resorts)and staff. Our unit was spacious, but in desperate need of up-dating .The wrap-around porch was overshadowed by the constant sewer smell. The kitchen counter was worn and the bottom cubbards musty. We had no phone extention listings for anything , only "0", which didn't always pick up.No check out instructions concerning the unit, or much area info. The parking was totaly unacceptable. We were surprised to find our space was down the road in a gravel lot. We waited an hour plus for security to arrive and give permission to park the bike on a high spot in the otherwise undesireable yard. House keeping had to deliver the basic kitchen supplies, after being told by "0" that I could come down to pick up our kitchen welcome packet. All in all the resort was a dissapointment. This is NOT A HONEYMOON HAVEN, and only a so-so motorcycle destination.
