Vida Vacations & Grand Mayan lies

I made a terrible mistake by allowing myself to be conned into purchasing membership in Mayan Palace. The saleman told us many things that turned out to be untrue. We should do something against those crooks.

Are you still within your rescission period? If so, then follow the rescission instructions you received with your package.

If not, try contacting the resort and threaten to publicly post all the rotten details about your purchasing experience if they don't agree to rescind. It's a long shot but some of these Mexican timeshare resorts want to save face.

If that doesn't work, then you are now the not-so-proud owner of a timeshare. Your best bet is to learn how to use it. Just watch out for the blood-sniffing sharks out there in the timeshare world scamming timeshare owners.

You'll probably start getting uninvited phone calls from these sharks promising that they can sell your timeshare for money beyond your wildest dreams or they can get you out of your timeshare or perhaps sue the timeshare resort and/or salesperson if you pay them some outrageous, upfront fee.

Don't fall for any of these scams.

Did you keep the name of the sales rep? and the name of the closer "fixer" if so post it all over the internet. It will not be slander. Get this MOTHER.

I also was convinced to purchase a Bliss Resort Vacation Club membership recently. After returning home I was able to read the entire contract cover to cover. In very small print hidden in a big paragragh was the rescission clause, 5 days, which I missed by 2 days. Vida Sales Group is not willing to cancel my contract. My credit card company is disputing the charges. I refuse to contract with the Golf Network to remarket the weeks because there is no guarantee & also because of their bad reputation. I am considering using Mexican Timeshare Solutions to get the contract cancelled. Their fees are contingent on getting the contract cancelled. Anybody have any experience with them? I also would be interested to know how some of the previous posts got their resolutions. Nobody has really answered. Its scary that they won't let you go once you sign the contract. Is some type of class action possible? I never wish to return to Mexico again after this experience with the Vida Sales Group land sharks.

P.S. After 3 months, my credit card successfully disputed the charges and refunded me 100%. Thank you Chase. This whole experience was so stressful that I don't think I will ever return to Mexico.

Don't use Mexican Timeshare Solutions. It's just another scam company that wants upfront money and they do nothing for you. NEVER pay anyone money upfront to rent or sell your timeshare. All upfront comapnies are scams.

Beware of Vacation Class S.A. de C.V. (advertising The Bliss Resorts, Bliss Vacation Club, Grand Mayan, Vida Vacations, VidaSales and more).

My mother and I traveled to Mexico to celebrate my graduation from college. After about seven hours traveling we were met at the airport in Cancun by some saleswoman misrepresenting her intention. The next day we were at their Grand Mayan where we were subjected to five hours of high-pressure sales tactics before we relented signing an English-only document purporting to be selling "lodging rights and services."

After getting away, we learned more about whom we had been picked up by from websites like tripadvisor, timesharescam, complaintsboard, scam, mescam, pissedconsumer, independenttraveler, and fodors, to name a few (all ending dot com). We notified the sales office that we cancel and asked for our downpayment back. They pretend to be confused and refuse.

We learned that Mexican law protects consumers under PROFECO; that all contracts regarding property in Mexico, including timeshares, must be in Spanish and bear certification by a Notario--neither of which was true for us; and that we can file a complaint in at any Mexican Consulate.

Our lawyer is putting together copies of their responses to share with you the names (and taunting words) of these sales people and the additional aliases they use. We hope that this post reaches you before you travel to Mexico, so you know to stay away from these people when they try to get you at the airport.

Check the package you received along with your purchase. It should have instructions about how to rescind your contract. Mexico law usually allows five business days.

If you're still within your rescission period, get on it immediately and follow the instructions precisely.

My mother and I have received an "offer of settlement" (viewable at this link http://tinyurl.com/k3mggkf) that would obligate us to lie about our experience with these people who have identified themselves to us as Bliss Resorts, Bliss Vacation Club, Vida Vacation Club International Sales, Grupo Vida Vacation, Mayan Resorts, Riviera Maya, et al.

First, this offer purports to create a contractual relationship between us and another company, to wit: Premium International Vacations S.A. de C.V. We are trying to sever ties with the authors of this unpleasant chapter of our lives, not expand the list of characters.

Second, this offer purports to have us surrender our free speech rights, and goes further by obliging us to participate in marketing activities, such as posting positive comments, on behalf of the Premium International Vacations S.A. de C.V. and its unidentified "Affiliates," for no consideration other than the return of our own money.

Third, this offer demands our silence, requiring us to keep these terms a secret, and never to speak about it, under threat. Meanwhile, we are suppose to trust that the "Person Offering Settlement" noted on this offer with an office at the Riviera Maya (a) has the authority to make this offer, and (b) will eventually refund our downpayment.

Who are these people? And why would any reputable hotel or resort allow them on their property to take our money? More importantly, why hasn't any of THESE hotels and resorts contacted us to resolve this?

I to paid Holiday Systems and they never did rent my place, enjoy the week but don't count on anything else, dont ever go to a free breakfast, their sales people have to earn a living and are trained barracudas. We enjoy our stay, but they get nothing more from us. Nuevo Vallarta is a very noisy place being build and the I upgraded to a Grand and was given a room over the delivery truck area, never again.

I bought points with El Cid Marina and the following year they wanted more points, more money , to get into the El Cid Marina,I refused to buy more points and they put us in a terrible Tower room. I gave them back my contract and lost $ 9800.00 Dollars just to get them of my back. Don't ever buy from El Cid they are worse than the Mayan

As an ex-employee, trust me the rental program is a scam. They still owe me money from when I worked there. If they don't treat their staff well think how they treat potential suckers!!

You say that you gave them your contract back ..... unless they agreed to take the contract back then you are still the owner and responsible for all yearly fees.

Six months have passed and Lance Dobbs of vida sales has been most helpful for us. It is key to note we did purchase in a foreign country , lacked documents and missed the retraction period of 5 days. That said we could have been stuck with a massive amount of timeshare weeks and large payment for 5 years when we really never wanted a timeshare as we are big owners with the Hilton and like it. Well , Lance utilized monies paid and provided us with units at the Grand Luxxe which we really enjoyed. Weeks are 3 verses the 10 we had at the Grand Myan. We recinded the Grand Myan and replaced with the Luxxe for time we schedule and enjoy. I will not go to a presentation again, and advise anyone who goes to understand what we did not.

I would like to know if Profeco work and how do I get in touch with them. The contract was signed on 10/8/2013, and they will not let me cancel. I need to know how to get out of the contract.

If the 5 days rescission period was not in your contract then you have a legitimate legal case ..... if the 5 rescission was listed in your contract and you did not rescind with that timeframe then you have no legal recourse:

PROFECO Complaint Form

I had the exact same experience just 10 days ago at the Grand Mayan Playa del Carmen. We were promised tours for free and a free week stay (they will email me...yeah that will happen). The salesperson Laureen was awful and was angry and insulting. To quote them

We would like to be given the opportunity to investigate this further as this does not reflect the way we threat our guests. If you received such treatment from members of our staff, we would like to be able to report it and take the necessary actions to prevent this from happening again.

It really does say threat our guests! How true.
