We exchanged at this resort last April 2006, and I can say that I was somewhat disappointed.

The plumbing fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom are in dire need of replacement. The appliances are also antiques and need to be replaced. There is no dishwasher and a tiny little sink. The furnishings are also tired looking and old.

The master bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Linens were clean. The carpets were filthy. I walked across the LR carpet with my white socks once and they were absolutely black. The sofa also needed shampooing. We covered the sofa with a sheet prior to sitting on it.

The faucet leaked and the telephone was not working properly when we checked in. We reported both, however, upon checking out two weeks later, the faucet and the telephone had not been repaired.

PLUSES:

The resort is in a fantastic location. The resort is on the boardwalk, so you have something to do in the evenings without having to drive anywhere. Great location for older kids, as there are plenty of recreational things for them to do (i.e. rentals, arcade).

I would not return to this resort again. If you prefer this area, I would suggest that you stay at the Hollywood Beach Tower next door. It's a smaller resort, but much, much cleaner and the staff are much friendlier.

recently returned and found the property to be more than adequate. staff was very attentive at the pool and hotel, and very helpful with sightseeing and dinner reservations. hotel gym contained a few treadmills, stairmasters, weights, etc. and tv.

unit could use some new furniture, but was clean and bed mattress was new.

boardwalk was wonderful for walking, peoplewatching.

not a five star but not too shabby either.

The RAMADA Hollywood Beach Hotel and Resort is under heavy exterior renovation. This early 20s grand hotel was converted to the Florida Bible College for several decades. (Ramada took over management 2000-2001. This is written 10/02/02.

Several years ago, it was converted to a T/S, Hotel and full time condo sales (full year deeded use). The management will rent your owned unit & keep part of rental.

Many of the retail rentals have left the Oceanwalk section. The rooms could use quite a bit of uplifting (even if you are used to Ramadas rooms- these IMO-are a downgrade. Rugs loose & wavy, bathrooms not of quality. However, Ramada appears to be working hard to upgrade.

The parking is NOT FREE. Think just under $10.00 a day. 10 theater AMC closed. Interior gym closed.

Even with these negatives, the location is great. No streets to cross, walk to excellent resturants (Angelos,Nicks, free entertainment around beautiful pool areas, and a few blocks N to the bandshell. Water usually clear enough to use snorkel & mask right off sand. Blue Wave beach area. No big waves-all beaches guarded. .....................................................
