Fairway Villa

The Fairway Villas turned out to be a very convenient comfortable timeshare exchange.and I was very pleased with it.

The Villars are about two long blocks from Waikiki beach but it is a wonderful walk and there is plenty to see along the way, including some interesting little bazaar type markets

The Unit I has was 1818 and I was delighted with it, it was a corner unit overlooking the Ala Wai waterway, with the skulling and kayaking going on and the Golf Course across from the Canal. It faced the South and West and had a great view of the mountains and a pleasant cross wind when I had the windows open.

The unit had a washer dryer in it, which made life with laundry easy.

The Top Floor of the building is wonderful - WONDERFUL - their are lounge charis, tables with chairs, a nice size pool, hot tub and dry sauna, but most imprantly a 360 degree view of the city. Diamond Head was clearly visible and there was good viewing of all of Waikiki, you could not actually see the Beach because of the other building but you could see the Ocean and just about everything else. There was ample space to bake in the sun or hide in the shade as I usually do.

The Unit was full featured with two flat screen TVs, great working AC units a large lanai and all the other normal stuff. All the appliances worked and they supplied extra towels and toilet products, as they do not do a mid week cleaning.

The only size issue was the bathroom which was a little tight based upon how the unit was layed out, they maximized the space they had.

The condition of everything was excellent and the cleanliness was very good.

The Kitchen was well stocked with dinnerware and pots and pans and had a good assortment of the smaller kitchen appliances which are not always present.

I had no problems with the unit at all. The only annoyance was that they have an internet modem type connection, which worked very well but was not available because of limited supplies of "modems" until later in the week, It cost $5 per day but worked as fast as my system at home and it was the only additional charge item.

I did not partake in any planned activities, since this building is not really a resort but more of a condiminum, it has a mixed population of full time residents, and others. This was not at all a problem since Hawaii is a natural playground and there is no need for Bingo and Ice Cream Socials to keep you busy.

The Resort Amenities included the wonderful 29th floor and very importanly FREEEEEE Parking, which can be another $200 or so per week. They assign you a parking spot and give you an access key for the parking garage, front door and elevator access from the Garage.

The check in is at the Royal Kuhio which is over about two blocks from the Fairway Villas, I have stayed st the Royal Kuhio before and know the city pretty well, so this was easy for me. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining where things are located in the city.

The location is also great because there is a small grocery store on the corner. The prices were reasonable, and the assortment was good. There is also a nice buffet on the next block which had OK food and a good price, $12 all inclusive for dinner. There are many restaurants in the area from Denny's to the high priced ones located in the hotels on the beach.

I had a great time and found this to be a great place to explore Oahu from.

The noise factor was fine with me but if some road traffic bothers you, ear plugs might be a good idea.

The unit I was in was suitable for a couple any more than two people would not have worked.

Relaxtion factor A+. Couples / Romance A+ / Families - you need a bigger unit than I had.

When I go back to Maui I would definitely stay here again.
