Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, United States, North America 33308
The greater Fort Lauderdale area, best known for its 23 miles of continuous ocean beach, also rates top billing as a yachting capital. The city has nearly as many canals as Venice, and more than 2,600 area dining spots are available to satisfy a wide range of tastes. Just north of Fort Lauderdale is Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, a quieter but equally enchanting vacation spot. Located directly on the Atlantic Ocean, with 300 feet of sandy beach, Costa del Sol Resort is your home base for a perfect Florida vacation.

We just returned from a week here. We too rented from David Johnson and it was all he said it was. Clean, good location, spectacular beach and pool. The staff was great. We arrived late at night but that was no problem, the security guard was expecting us and made sure we had everything we needed. Would return in a minute. David was very helpful with information and guaranteeing a trouble free rental experience.

We just got back after spending 1 week here & it was paradise! We rented a week from an owner, David Johnson who was just amazing-so helpful & so nice! The resort was immaculate inside & out! The grounds are kept very nicely & the private beach is just pristine! We were greeted by staff person David who was very nice, friendly & helpful - what a multi-tasker he is -- always busy! The unit was sooooo neat & clean! We loved our housekeeper, Bernette or as our 2yr old daughter called her, "Sweetie"! She kept the place as clean as home - very neat, clean & new looking! We were very comfortable walking around barefoot & allowing our daughter to walk on the floors - no dirty feet! We are very picky, neat, clean people so that was a huge plus! We have always stayed at high end resorts/hotels & this resort is right up there - in top 3 for us!
The outdoor community grill was a hot spot! Awesome idea that was such a plus to be able to go out & cook our dinners on each evening & a great gathering place to meet others there on vacation! We met a lot of people who have been owners & coming here for 10-20yrs & going - they bring/brought their children there over the years & it is a great family place! We only wished they had 2 bedroom units. The units are a decent size though! We will definitely go back again & may even consider buying there! It was such a relaxing vacation!

If you want a relaxing time, staying at a resort directly on the ocean, then you have found the place. My wife and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and it was great. The resort was seriously damaged by Hurricane Wilma, but its renovations are outstanding. The workers there keep the resort in immaculate condition.

We absolutely love it here! We've rented directly from CDS as well as from an owner for the past 7 years so the area feels like our second home. The entire place is extremely well kept, the units are very clean, staff is friendly and we love the grill by the pool. It is by far the best place in Lauderdale-by-the- Sea.
Of course we were very disappointed they had to close for renovations from hurricane damage this year. David came through for us by finding us another timeshare for our total of 6 weeks, some of which we hadn't even rented through him. He's a great source for rentals here!! He went 'above and beyond' for us and found other accommodations for our friends as well. Can't wait for next year when we'll return to the all new CDS!

Absolutely outstanding resort located directly on the ocean within one block to town center & Aruba Beach Cafe! Costa Del Sol was damaged by hurricane in 2006, but completely renovated...took 1-1/2 years...even prettier than before! Not much else to say, except we love it so much that we purchased 3-weeks.

I had gone to CSD with friends that owned and ended up buying 2 weeks. Also I rented a week off of David (very pleasant) in January 2005 it is very clean, the staff is very friendly. I have taken my children and grandchildren over the years. It is a very relaxing vacation, right on the Ocean.
Walking distance to a little Center with shops and resturants.

Just got back from a week of absolute pleasure. Nothing but 7 days of sunny 82-85 degree weather. If you are looking for a small place directly on the ocean I find it hard to believe you can do better than CDS. Rooms are fully equipped, clean, modern, outside deck, and most have a wonderful full oceanfront view. Staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating, handy gas grill (with a great Wed night cookout all invited), wonderful pool and deck chair setup, coffee shop w/fridge and bathrooms (no need to run back to your room), outdoor shower, etc etc. Everything as advertised and then some.
Thank you David for a 10+ week. We will be back for sure after Harborside in 06.
edited 5/24: Enjoyed so much we just bought a week. We'll be back in October!!!

Having visited Lauderdale-by-the-Sea for nearly 20 years, we've stayed at 6 different places in LBTS. Among them, by reputation, some of the nicest. But Costa del Sol is, by far, our favorite, and we just had the most relaxing, enjoyable vacation in years. We think it's the best place to stay in LBTS. Everything stated on the webpage is entirely accurate.
The property is clean, comfortable and very well run. From the moment we arrived, the staff was helpful, friendly and accommodating. With only about 40 units, I was surprised by the relatively large size of the maintenance and housekeeping staff, who--daily--keep the place spotless. And what a nice group of people.
Our transactions with the owner from whom we rented (david johnson) were handled very professionally. Because I hadn't ever reserved a place through Redweek, I was a bit worried about having some kind of hassle at check in, but in fact, it couldn't have been easier or more "hassle- free." A great experience.
This is not a place with a lot of planned activities, or children's programs or that sort of thing. But if you're looking for a relaxing week on the beach, you won't beat this. Whether it's sitting on your balcony watching the sunrise (almost all units have a direct ocean view), swimming in the pool, or relaxing on the nearly private beach, every moment is there to be enjoyed.
One of the few times that both we and our teenagers were equally happy with a vacation place.
Addendum: March 10, 2006. Having just read the Smith's review of March 2, I have to add that we, too, can't believe how hard David Johnson worked (without us even asking!) to make alternative arrangements for us this spring, due the the damage at CDS. He really is an honorable, honest and thoughtful man. Thanks, David!

We just returned from this resort. It is a wonderful peaceful place to go to kick back and relax. The people there have been coming to CDS for years, they are all friendly and willing to share their knowledge on the area. This resort is clean, quiet, and within walking distance to a small dining/shopping area. The only complaint I have is the bed was as hard as a rock. I have back trouble and this wasn't good. I slept on the sofa the whole time. They offered to change the mattress, but said it would be a new one and not much better. Great vacation stay!

I have stayed here numerous times and it is great. By far the best place in the whole area. The beach, pool, facility and location to the village is tops. It is a little pricey for a week, but it is great.
