Description

Dunes South is located on the Outer Banks, a string of narrow islands and peninsulas that lie between the ocean and the sounds. Featuring a 450-foot oceanfront, the resort has an outdoor pool that overlooks the ocean and dunes, a picnic area, playground, and putting green. Minutes away are hunting areas and championship golf courses. Charters are available for deep-sea fishing and surf casting. On nearby Roanoke Island, the first English colony established in 1585, and many historic sites from colonial days remain. Guests will not only find that there is as much to do at this wonderful resort , but there is a surrounding tranquil feeling of the beach and ocean.

Nothing fancy, but the beach is right there. Very quiet resort, Just right for relaxing, and fishing. There is a fireplace and free wood for the colder months. They do allow owners to bring pets during the off season in some of the units. I enjoyed my week here very much.

Spacious units but some dated furnishings. Nice location with great beach. No TV in master BR. Many units were extensively refurbished after Hurricane Isabelle.

visited a couple of years ago. obvious maintenance problems. pool allowed to fill with sand over winter and sand piled up so much that part of the pool deck collapsed. sand had almost buried the walkover to the beach with only a few inches of the railing still visible. had to climb dune to get to the beach. seems poorly managed

A great destination for a family. This older resort has updated most of its units, others may be a bit dated. We have been there a few times and are always pleased with the experience. Right on the beach, plenty of room! Nothing fancy, but a great, quiet beach getaway.
