If you come to New Orleans expecting to stay in a crowded cookie-cutter suite with doormen, maid service, smelly elevators, smoke-filled rooms, nightly turn-downs, impersonal service by folks always expecting a tip, donât come here. Go to Chicago, or New York. On the other hand, if you come to New Orleans to become part of the scene, the spirit, the âjoie de vivreâ that seems to fill the air, come to The Courtyards, in the heart of the French Quarter in more ways than one. Once you step through the ornate Iron Gate into the courtyard, youâll sense what Iâm talking about. Have a seat in the courtyard. The banana tree may tickle you neck. Youâre surrounded by flowers and greenery. George, the manager, prides himself in keeping the lovely garden. The fountain gurgles, at the same time soothing and peaceful. Feel the character of the place. Once, a family with servants lived here. The servants may have been slaves. There are only seven units here, and no two are the same. Enjoy the high ceilings, the lovely board floors, the décor and the artwork on the walls. Each unit has a different theme in keeping with its unique character. Oh yes, thereâs a TV, kitchen, all the usual amenities. You will feel at home at once.
As you may have guessed by now, Iâm not a casual guest here. My family owns several units here, spaced throughout the year. We bought them over time, starting about fifteen years ago. Our love affair with The Courtyards and New Orleans continues.

We stayed in this resort Jan. 7-14, 2011. We were totally disapppointed by everything at the resort. It needs to be upgraded and repaired. It is the worst resort that I have stayed at for the last 12 years.

This resort is all about location and historical enchantment. Hospitality is exceptional.
If you are looking for modern glass and steel, you probably will not be happy here. There are only six units, each with its own "personality" in this historic old carriage style townhouse structure.
It is located close to all the tourist and native sites of interest. We have stayed here several times. It is on Royal Street.
