Good for you. I sent Dennis 3 messages about renting a couple of units and never heard back.

I fully agree with the post from Feb 5, 2008. Terrific location in a fantastic town. Dennis Buschbaum also assisted me in booking the unit. He was quick to respond and great to work with in securing the reservation.

Unattractive from street. NO parking nearby. Suites are TINY. Polished concrete floors both cold and HARD. Staff friendly and congenial. UNLESS you get a river view NOTHING to look at. Some bedrooms do not even have windows, and NO windows open. I know this is a historic building, but they need to do SOMETHING to liven the place up. It DOES back up to the River Walk, though, so that puts it in a nice location from THAT direction.

I rented this unit last year and received the following E-mail: "Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you about our stay in San Antonio. It was GREAT! We absolutely loved the Riverside Suites. I don't believe there is a better location to stay on the Riverwalk. I wish we could have stayed longer. I kidded with my husband that he could take a bus back to Orange and the kids and I would stay on thru Friday. I think that San Antonio is my "new favorite place". We went to Sea World on Monday, the weather was nice and it was not crowded at all. There were no lines or waiting for anything. We went to Hemisfair park that evening but it was way too crowded so we came back to the room and had the best view of the fireworks of anybody in San Antonio. We ate great food, had Starbucks every morning, saw the Alamo, rode the boats, ate at Hard Rock, County Line Bar-B-Q, went to the mall, had drinks at the little Jazz bar at the Hyatt, walked AT LEAST 5 miles each day and came in every night to the best rooms, with the most comfortable bed. In other words - a perfect vacation. The only thing that wasn't perfect is that my digital camera died the first day we were there and I couldn't find a replacement battery anywhere! We ended up buying a disposable camera but I wish mine would have worked! We left San Antonio on Wednesday, stayed 2 nights in Orange, then the kids and I headed home. We spent the night last night in Hattiesburg, MS which is the half-way point between Muscle Shoals and Orange, then came on home today. When we left here on the 27th I set the trip odometer on the car - when we pulled into the garage at 2:30 this afternoon the odometer was on 2,034. Needless to say - I am glad to be through with driving for a while! I work about 3 miles from my house and that is as far as I want to drive for a few weeks!! My husband's job in Orange is supposed to last another 18 months - and we all agreed that we will definitely go back to San Antonio at least once more while he is there. I would love to see it in the spring I think - I'll bet it is beautiful. The Christmas lights were gorgeous but I think I would love it ANY time. Thank you so much for your help and letting us use your week. It was WONDERFUL."

As I write this review I am sitting in the lobby of the resort. This is a very quaint timeshare that used to be an old Salvation Army hotel in it's heyday. The location could not be more perfect for us as we are on a convention and the convention center is just blocks from here very short blocks and the Alamo also a stones throw away. Everything you want nearby is closeby. Walgreens, CVS, a hospital next door in case you get sick, a seafood restaurant next door on the River and all the river action right at your backyard. My unit had a balcony but the windows were sealed shut so you could not really enjoy the balcony from the room but had to use the 3rd floor patio. Our room was adequate although with an unusual layout but that is because the building is solid concrete and doesn't lend itself to modern updating but we had a beautiful room with concrete floors, exposed beams, textured walls, funky colors and a modern kitchen with all the amenities needed for a relaxing week in the city. Parking is in a municipal lot nearby and they rent you the garage key to get in and out. Not a real big inconvenience if you are used to city life, which I am. Don't stay here if you can't put up with a few inconveniences of travelling as this is a very URBAN resort but the staff is plenty pleasant and more than accomodating but there are some things they cannot change like room set up. I heard other guests complain about the sleeping arrangements not being what they are used to in other resorts but you need to remember that this is a historic building built in the 1920's and must take the good with the bad. Overall I think the place is great and would definetely come back if I had business or pleasure again in San Antonio. Very friendly town. If you want a more modern resort then you might like the Cascadas better. I rented my week thru Redweek with Dennis Buschbaum and he did a great job of getting me a reservation at a fair price and good service. He is still renting his weeks here on Redweek so rent with confidence he is honest.
