My family has vacationed here 3 times and each was relaxing and fun. There was plenty for the kids to do, with 2 outdoor pools and fun activities. I had 2 teenage boys and a teenage girl and 1 toddler and all had a great time. We stayed once during Feb vacation and had a great time in the indoor pool and sledding.

We traded our timeshare for a week in late August. We stayed in Steele Hills West which are 2 BR townhouses. Unloading / loading is a bit difficult as there is one entrance up a flight of stairs for a row of townhouses. You then go down a hallway until you find your unit number. When you enter the townhouse, the master BR is in front of you and you have to go downstairs to get to the living room, kitchen, and 2nd BR.

The unit was spacious and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The indoor and outdoor pools were beautiful. Except for the stairs, we really liked the units.

The location was close to the Lakes Region attractions and was about an hour from the White Mountains. We especially enjoyed visiting the Shaker Village and Castle in the Clouds.

About 20 minutes away is Meredith where there are quaint shops. We enjoyed eating in a restaurant called 'Camp' which was set up to look like a summer camp. It's a little pricey but worth it. Make sure you have the S'more for desert!

If we come to New Hampshire again, we would stay here....

With much remodeling and updates in the past several years, Steel Hill Resort provides a beautiful and relaxing setting while still able to provide entertainment for the entire family. We stayed there in 2003 and enjoyed every minute. We were there in the winter and saw the snow flakes hit the windows while we swam in the huge indoor swimming pool. The views were spectacular as you sat by the fire in the living room. Plenty of room, as it slept 6 and included all the necessities. We had our own private bed and hot tub on one level and the children were all in the twin bedroom and living room. Skiing on location cross country and locally downhill was fantastic. We WILL return in the fall to see the wonderfull fall foliage...it must be fantastic high atop the hill.

We stayed here on a II getaway beginning July 4, 2003. The unit was recently refurbished, and everything was clean & in good condition. Good facilities, but somewhat remote location.

We booked this as a Getaway through II, in Oct, 2000. Didn't end up staying there, the unit smelled like mold, the kitchen was gross, with tinfoil lining the burners, and oven due to the large amount of grease buildup. The bathroom smelled even worse than the rest of the unit. The carpet had a number of gross looking stains that I didn't want my 9 month old crawling on. We ended up checking into a Crown Plaza for the weekend instead.

Setting aside planning our trip during the coldest week in the past 5 years (who knew), my wife and I had a very pleasent time at Steele Hill West. While the wind howled throughout the northeast we enjoyed the accomodations that the resort had to offer. With discount coupons to Gunstock (available at the main office desk) we trecked off in the sub-zero temeratures for a fun-filled day of skiing. At night we enjoyed a supurb dinner at the resturant on-site. Priced at the mid-upper end of the scale, it was well worth it. Good food with generous portions we left feelng very satisfied. In the long run, though a few years old with some minor repairs needed, we had a very enjoyable time.
