We first stayed here in 2005 as an RCI exchange and then purchased a unit and have been back twice.
Nothing very fancy here. It is a converted motel but the staff goes 110% to meet all your needs. Housekeeping is done 3x/wk and the place is very clean. Free coffee and doughnuts in the am and a nice clean pool area that is kid-free from 2pm-5pm. (There is a second pool in the back the kids can use.)
The best location in Tahoe, a five minute walk to the casinos and 8 minutes to the lake. A great mall across the street provides some good restuarants, but you'll probably want a car to hit some places a little further away and also do some sightseeing. Yosemite National Park is 3+ hours away, but is worth the drive.
Resort lets you book uo to 2 years in advance. We already have our reservations for 2008 and 2009 secured.

The Stardust at Lake Tahoe was the friendliest and most interesting Time Share location we stayed at during our 10 years as Time Share owners. This can be credited mostly to Bob the historian and naturalist who knows the area very well and has many interesting stories to tell. There are activities galore in the surrounding area and the Lake and the bright blue sky were stunningly beautiful.

You can't beat the location! Right across the street from the Heavenly Ski Gondola, within 700 feet of the casinos and newly renovated shops, restaurants, ice skating rink, movie theatre etc. Grocery store also. Perfect for a family, as you don't have to shlep all yours and theirs equipment long distances for skiining. Ski school right next to the gondola. We never even drove the car once we had arrived. We'll be back. Much less $$ than the Marriott Timberlodge.

This is a converted hotel that ought to rate 3 stars, but the staff kicks it up to 4 stars. Bob, in particular, the historian, is worth hearing every time he gives a history lecture. All the staff are particularly nice and helpful. The location is right on the main drag, which is good and bad - good because you can park your car and walk to most things, including skiing (ski slope right across the street) and a grocery store a block away. Bad because you can hear some road noise and construction noise when projects are in full swing nearby. The pool is not big enough for lap swimming, but there's a good public lap pool down the street a mile. Hot tub is great in the winter (bring flip-flops!) You can sign out bikes & helmets (for free), which is great in 3 seasons.
