Stayed there in Dec., 2008. Fantastic view of sunset from the balcony. Walk off the property onto one of the best beaches we have ever seen. Wonderful pools and grounds. Truely a hidden jewel!
Don't be put off by the entry drive - the old front building is planned for removal or renovation. Recently remodeled room, very beautiful, comfortable and very well maintained. Remodelling continues on other units. Registration/office building is small modular building next to the main pool. Parking is a bit tight but acceptable.
Can walk to several good restaurants.

I am a long time owner at the Coral Reef and just returned from our family vacation week there. First off, if you read some reviews about the old motel that is a part of the property, yes it is still there and still closed and is an eyesore, but the surrounding area, the best pool on the beach and everything else is still very nice. If you dont mind the old hotel, which really makes it a much more private place, then you will still enjoy your stay. we did. we love the coral reef and actually own three weeks there. Future plans call for the old motel to be demolished and two high rise buildings be built on the former site which will include losing the great pool but will give us two new pools with three hot tubs and ample parking. WHile it saddens us to lose the pool, it will make the resort more desirable long term with more money going towards upgrading the units inside and out. Part of the agreement with the developer is to improve the existing structures. Long live the coral reef. st pete beach is one of my favorite places. On the flip side i could look at the old hotel for another 20 years if we could keep the best pool in all of florida...

I am an owner and have stayed here the last four years. Great location for all activities. Either very close to pool or facing ocean. Stayed Memorial week, fireworks at several beach locations. Very large wading pool with fountains. 3 hot tubs near pool area, very relaxing. Bongos (beach bar) has great food and tropical drinks, also live entertainment nightly.

I stayed at this resort from April 1 thru April 8, 2006. I was very disapointed with the "resort". I had exchanged into it and it was not an even exchange. The rooms are smal and the floor could have used a good scrubbing. The staff there was nice and helpful, but you can see they didn't have the resources to adequately take care of the place.
The area is very nice and it is on the beach and the pool area was nice, but what they didn't tell you was that it was under construction and that it was behind a boarded up hotel that's due to be demolished. When you first pull into the parking lot all you see is a boarded up building and some confusing signs telling you where to check in. Parking is very minimal because the main lot is shared with with a bar which seems to own the majority of the parking spots. What made things worse was that the timeshares surrounded it were really nice. There are plans to fix this resort up but they are a few years down the line. I gave it 2 stars because of its location.

We arrived to find our beach view obstructed by construction on the balconies for our rented unit... and drilling and construction going on 6 days a week. Not quite what I expected/paid for. Management did work with us, and moved us. Other than that, it was a great week. This remodeling was not going quickly, so beware if you're renting a unit this summer. I imagine that an owner would have been informed, I felt this should have been disclosed by the renter, as I booked several months in advance of our stay.
