Tahoe Summit Village

I think the review below offers a fair assessment. However, I give it five stars because it is very well amenitized (washer/dryer and fireplace) and the staff is always so ready to help and give advice. The resort is three diamond AAA rated (the highest available without room service), is well maintained, and the units are very clean.

Tahoe Summit Village is located at the top of Kingsbury Grade, 4 miles from the casinos in downtown Stateline.  I stayed there with family and friends in june /01. From the unit balcony you have a breathtaking view of the Carson Basin, and if you take a short walk around the side of the resort you have an equally wonderful view of Lake Tahoe. 

There are three buildings;  two of them are built into the side of the mountain.  The 100's units are in a three storey building where stairs start after climbing about 12 steps to the office.  Each floor is separated by about 14 steps.  The 200's units are in a building where the first floor starts after a climb of about 25 stairs, THEN you start climbing 14 stairs per floor, a loooog way to haul suitcases!  Avoid this building unless you are Rocky (the boxer, not the squirrel).  The third building, housing the 600's units, is built on level ground, and the first floor is wheelchair accessible. 

The first two floors of all three buildings house two-bedroom units while the top floors house "three" bedroom units, which are actually 2-bedroom units with lofts. The units are spacious, with a large jacuzzi tub in the ensuite bathroom, and a very well-equipped kitchen.  The cabinets were old-looking and need replacement.  The units have large windows and are well-appointed.  The dining room is very large, with lots of room for six adults to sit around after eating and recount stories about their day. The outdoor hot tub and sauna are available 24 hours a day.  The resort offers a daily trip, including transportation, that takes guests south as far as Yosemite and north to Incline Village.

The staff are very professional and when we asked for a couple of things they were delivered almost immediately.  A very thorough mid-week housekeeping is available at no charge.  There is plenty to do in the area all year.  In the spring, summer and fall the lake is the primary focus, in the winter guests can walk from their unit to the Stagecoach lift at Heavenly ski area.  The casinos are there 24 hours a day, 12 months a year. This resort requires a car to really enjoy the area, although Harrah's provides a shuttle to downtown with a frequent schedule.
