The Villas of Foxwood Hills

This was our first visit and, being, February, definitely off-season. There were probably fewer than 10 units occupied the entire week.

We stayed in Villa 1A. It was a 2-floor unit with the bedrooms and bath on the upper floor. All of the units are tiered around a small valley with trees, which added to the privacy.

The downstairs area was an open floor plan with a living room area directly in front of the door and a corner fireplace. The kitchen and dining area were on the other side of the room. A covered deck, the length of the unit, is accessible from the living room. The kitchen was furnished well and had a bar with 4 stools, in addition to a dining table. The living room furniture was clean and comfortable.

Upstairs were two bedrooms and a full bath. There was a 3/4 bath downstairs. Both bedrooms had access to an open deck facing the valley.

The unit slept six and we had the full complement of towels, etc.

The indoor pool and spa is onsite but the outdoor pool and other faciilties are off-site, so a car is needed.

I had a small list of items which I thought needed repair work by the time we left but they didn't interfere with our enjoyment of our unit.

The resort is about five miles from the downtown area of Westminster; it was a little more isolated than I expected.

Also, while you can fish in the nearby lake, they don't recommend that you eat the fish...the lake has PCBs in it.

Be careful with any Mapquest directions...they route you on a half-mile road called E.Avondale. It is a short dirt road into a steep valley and up the other side, but it is washed out at the bottom. If you try it at night you may get a surprise when you hit bottom. The RCI instructions take you a slightly different, and better, route.

We'd go back again if we wanted to be in that area.

Beautiful resort in a beautiful tree lined, lush mountain foliage setting close to 54,000 acre late Hartwell. If you want relaxation this is the place to go. Short driving distance from Atlanta and close to the tourist towns of Helen, GA and Highlands, NC, the Chattooga river for white water rafting, beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails and many other tourist attractions.

Atlantans - a world away from the hustle and bustle of metro Atlanta yet only a short driving distance to the mountains of SC.

Our first time there and really enjoyed the villa and area. The staff was very pleasant and helpfull. Unit was decorated nice and with fireplace which we enjoyed. Had a couple maint problems, but handled promptly. Indoor pool was ideal for the cool weather in Oct.
