- Situated between Salzburg and Kitzbuhel, this ancient castle dates in part from 1325 and belonged to the King of Bavaria. It has now been converted into luxurious apartments reminiscent of a bygone era - some have a four poster bed. There are extensive grounds with tennis courts and sunbathing terraces. The resort is a base for skiing in the winter sports season and exploring the region's lakes and mountains at other times of the year.

We stayed here early January and did not realise Austria shuts at midday on Saturday until Monday morning so we were unable to get items for breakfast or dinner even though self catering is available over the weekend. Also many shops shut from about 12.00 to 2.00 every day
Easy walk to both Lofer and St Martin as the free ski shuttle does not work outside busy holiday periods.
We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was extremely spacious and warm. Great atmosphere with the ceiling paintings, four poster beds etc.
Very clean and well run resort.
Nearest laundry was Bad reichenall so don't expect to catch up laundry here.
We found St Johan and Steinplatte offerred better ski trails for the more advanced skiers.
All in all awonderful holiday in a quaint village location. Something for both skiers and non skiers.
