Description

Leoniki Residence is located in Platanes which is a Rethymnon (Crete) prefecture, the smallest and most sparsely inhabited one compared to the other three on the island. This prefecture is the centre of folk art, especially weaving and embroidering at Anoyia, as well as ceramics which has been mainly developed around the small picturesque village of Margarita. The resort offers guests a great opportunity for relaxation with a swimming pool, bars, restaurant and sea sports. Among the sites worth visiting in Rethymnon is the Enetian castle called Fortezza, a real masterpiece of palatian style architecture.

Nice loacation and the staff is excellent. Two sections. Grand Leoniki is newer with Leoniki being the older section. We stayed in both. Old section shows its age but is well maintained. Air conditioning could be considered weak, especially in the hot summer months. We visited in mid May, 2005. Water was cool but very refreshing once you got the courage to take the plunge.

Visited again in Sep 2007. One bedroon in the older section but it had been updated and was better than before.

We spent Spring Break 2006 at Leoniki Residence and we were so disappointed by the accomodations. We were placed in a one bdrm unit that smelled awful....the bedroom curtains had mildew, the bathroom walls and floor had mold and mildew growing on it. There was no shower curtain. When my daughter attempted to use the jacuzzi she ruined her bathing suit because the water cam out brown. In addition the dvd player did not work. We of course asked for a room change largely because the odor from the mildew and mold would not leave. We had to wait 2 days despite my sharing with them that my daughters allergies were getting worse. They did finally change us to a slightly nicer, but considerable smaller unit. While this unit did not have the mold problem, we were greated by a huge cockroach that my husband had to chase around while my daughter and I stood on top of the beds. In this unit there was no dvd player or jucuzzi, so we had the wonderful choice of amenties that didn't work or no amenties at all. This resort is not worth staying at. The one positive is the pool area and the morning buffet. Outside of that, the dinner buffet, etc. its not worth the trip to Greece.
