Aberfeldy, Scotland, Europe PH15 2DY

These superior holiday cottages are situated at Moness Country Club in Aberfeldy, Scotland in highland Perthshire. Based just a short walk from the village centre and a stones throw from the famous Birks of Aberfeldy, immortalised by Robert Burns. Aberfeldy is situated at a bend of the mighty River Tay (the UK's largest) and 5km down stream from Loch Tay. There is a fine selection of local shops and restaurants around the main square. Tourists can visit Aberfeldy Water Mill which produces stone ground oatmeal or Dewar's World of Whisky at Aberfeldy Distillery (built in 1896). There are ample opportunities for walking around the area with the Falls of Moness and the Birks of Aberfeldy (made famous by Robert Burns) perhaps the best know. Golf is available at a number or local golf courses and the fishing opportunities of Perthshire are world renowned. Loch Tay offers water sports and the Crannog Centre.

Moness Country Club is a Gold Crown Resort and all the holiday cottages have a spacious lounge, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Set within 35 acres of woodland scenery the hotel dates back from 1758, and is the oldest building in the village. Some of the units have patio areas or balconies. Highchairs and cots can be provided in the units. The on-site leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, spa bath and solarium. The dining facilities on-site cater for all your refreshment needs, so your holiday can be as active or relaxing as you wish. There will be an electricity charge at the end of your stay. Charges are made to play snooker and also for hire of any sports equipment.

We stayed here for a week in November 2006. There were three of us (all adults) in a one bedroom cottage, which provided ample space. We loved the resort location which allowed for many day trips throughout Scotland including Edinburgh, Loch Ness, St. Andrews and Stirling.

The cottage was two levels with the bedroom and bathroom on the entry level and the living room and kitchen on the upper. My mother-in- law had the upstairs sleeper sofa and said it was very comfy.

The resort also had a decent restaurant, where we dined twice for dinner.

I would not hesitate to stay here again!

I stayed at Moness in April 06 in a 2 bedroom cottage with my family and we all really enjoyed it. The kitchen and living area were upstairs with nothing in front of the cottage so there was a wonderful view across the valley.

The resort has good leisure facilities with the sports hall being set up for different activities each day. The grounds are very well kept.

Moness would make an ideal touring base for anyone wanting to explore Perthshire with potential visits to Glasgow/Edinburgh/Balmoral/Aviemore/Invern ess.

Furnishings and carpeting could do with an overhaul, and the floors squeaked with every step. The grounds are well kept though. The village of Aberfeldy is a good touring base for seeing the sights of Scotland. A must see is the Dewer's Distillery and the drive along Loch Tay is a narrow, hair-raising experience but with great views around every corner.
