The resort features beautiful units, swimming pool, an on-site restaurant and a bar. Delight in a wide range of water sports, including diving, riding Jet Skis, or snorkeling. Enjoy shopping, restaurants, and exciting nightlife. Whether walking along Cancun's white, sandy beaches, or waterskiing on its blue waters, you'll think you've found paradise. Nearby, you'll find several Mayan temples. Travel south about 40 miles to Tulum, the only Mayan religious site built at the seashore, and the largest Mayan archaeological site. Tours may be arranged through the on-site travel agency. Xcaret and XelHa, 24 miles and 40 miles, respectively, south of Cancun, are lovely places to sunbathe or snorkel.

This resort is on the Westin property. We enjoyed Breakfast every morning at the Westin restaurant where my kids ate free. Every breakfast for a family of 5 (3 kids included) was about $35 (buffet). The price was OK as we ate breakfast later than most and therefore could skip lunch and have an early dinner in the town. The pools at this hotel are very nice and so is the beach (with lounge chairs and towels provided). The hotel offers free wi-fi, which was nice because we were able to make Skype calls from our room. This is more of your quiet scene hotel as it is located at the end of the island next door to Club Med. Outside the hotel is a bus stop which is the last stop of the bus route. Very convenient to go around the town using the bus, however, to get from one end to the other is about 20 minutes. Due to our late check in we did not have a room with the best location, however we did ask for an ocean view room and they provided us one 2 days later. FYI. I am an owner at this resort... purchased in 2005. I have only been to this resort twice. However I find it very reasonable. As a standalone hotel the Club Regina is OK, however, since all Club Regina guests are able to use all the facilities of the Weston hotel... that makes this Club Regina a lot more than just OK. Also, if you are to book a room at the Westin, just for a hotel room, you would pay $200-$350/night and that is just for a hotel room.

My wife and I originally went to the Westin resort on the property before the hurricane. We had a great time and were happy with everything. While there we looked at the time shares available at Club Regina. When we came back in 2006 with kids in tow we rented one. Surely not as nice as what they show you when they are trying to sell you, but still a very nice condo. Well kept. Clean. Laid back. Consistent surf to play in if you enjoy that while swimming. Decent free snorkeling very close by (within walking distance). Good food on the property at typical resort prices. A little grocery store within walking distance. Lots to do (activities all day long) for adults as well as the kids.
We did not appreciate the time share pressure we received while we were there. It did not cease until we were real aggressive with a "no, now leave us alone" answer, but that is probably the same everywhere. It also is a decent bus ride away from most everything on the strip and close to a half an hour if you ride all the way into town. But small price to pay for the quiet, laid back atmosphere.
All in all we have enjoyed this property very much both times and are looking at going back again unless there is a really great opportunity somewhere else. Staff were great in every aspect except the timeshare salesman. We have been to 3 other resorts in Cancun without the kids and I would only rate one as nice as this property. In regards to the people that had problems with the thefts, I think you need to lock things up all the time in Mexico (or any resort area) or you will have these problems. We have been to Cancun a lot of times and never had a problem, but we have also been vigilant about using the safes provided by the properties and not bringing a lot by the pool or beach where it will be unattended. They allow you to use your room key to charge things so there is no need to take the risk. I don't think you'll avoid that by going to a different property.

After reading the reviews I was a bit wary about coming to this resort, but have been pleasantly surprised. The public areas have all been recently renovated and are very nice. The rooms themselves are clean and nice, but are definitely in need of remodeling. I was told that it is scheduled to happen in 2008. The Westin hotel on the adjoining property (where you can use all the facilities as well) is also recently updated has a beautiful spa. Staff have been very helpful and transportation is easy to the busier areas of the hotel zone.

We have been to Club Regina many times. We use the safe in our rooms and only carry the amount of money we might need for the evening when we go out. During the day, we can charge food and drinks to our room, so don't need money. We have never had a security issue. One time we left our safe open. The maid called the security guard who closed the safe and entered a new code which was left in a sealed envelope at the front desk for us. We like being at the quiet end of the island. bus transportation goes by every few minutes. We love to snorkel at Puncta Nizuc which is about a block from the resort. Sahllow water and beautiful fish. The staff has always been great to us. Furnishings are adequate but could use some updating.
