After reading the reviews I was a bit wary about coming to this resort, but have been pleasantly surprised. The public areas have all been recently renovated and are very nice. The rooms themselves are clean and nice, but are definitely in need of remodeling. I was told that it is scheduled to happen in 2008. The Westin hotel on the adjoining property (where you can use all the facilities as well) is also recently updated has a beautiful spa. Staff have been very helpful and transportation is easy to the busier areas of the hotel zone.

We have been to Club Regina many times. We use the safe in our rooms and only carry the amount of money we might need for the evening when we go out. During the day, we can charge food and drinks to our room, so don't need money. We have never had a security issue. One time we left our safe open. The maid called the security guard who closed the safe and entered a new code which was left in a sealed envelope at the front desk for us. We like being at the quiet end of the island. bus transportation goes by every few minutes. We love to snorkel at Puncta Nizuc which is about a block from the resort. Sahllow water and beautiful fish. The staff has always been great to us. Furnishings are adequate but could use some updating.

Interesting Gloria.... we had money stolen from our room too... while we were in it!! We had a two bedroom unit -- the lock-off had a separate door. My girl friend left her purse on her bed while we watch television. We had a maintenance person come in to change a light bulb. He could have seen the purse from where he stood -- but he didn't go into the room while he was in the room with us. A little while later Kathy went to get her purse and was startled by a maid in her room - - the lock-off. She indicated that she was coming in to turn down the bed. We told her we didn't need that so she left. Kathy grabbed her purse and found it was open and $200 dollar gone. We quickly ran down to the desk to report the theft. They said they would send a security guard to take the report. We realized that both of the them -- the maid or the maintenance man -- had keys that could have accessed that lock-off and we told them about it. They told us that the police would be able to tell who accessed the room by the key codes recorded. We waited a long time for the security man to show up to take the report... They did noting. They told us we should file a police report - which we did the next day -- it took hours! The end result -- NOTHING. Bottom line -- this place is not secure. If you stay here -- lock everything up, even when you are in the room! This was the second time we stayed here -- the first time was fine. We liked the "Mexico" feel here -- it is not just another American resort like the Royal Sands etc -- it is walking distance to snorkeling, the patios have hammocks and hot tubs...the double headed showers are awesome...but... there is a price to pay -- NO SECURITY!!

Did not care for this resort, rooms were small and not nicely furnished. Too far away from all the fun of Cancun, does not deserve the Gold Crown resort status. Money was stolen from our room while we went to have breakfast! Cancun is a great place for vacation...

We just came back from Cancun and stayed in the Westin Regina Hotel. We had a quick tour of the Club ammenities at a sales promotion. The room we were shown looked great, but then it was the "show room". The sales staff were pushy and we wondered why. Our stay at the Regina hotel was wonderful. The staff were more than accomadating, very friendly and helpful. I had a medical emergency and the doctor on staff came out to the beach area where I was. He took me to his office to perform minor surgery on two of my fingernails. He was exceptional in caring and giving me excellent care. Medications I needed were dropped off at the hotel. The restaurants had very good choice of foods and the two quiet beaches, three large, very clean and upkept pools, on-site ammenities and transportation to downtown and the tour sites were fantastic. I cannot say enough about the caring staff and excellent care we received while there. Our experience was a good one. The rooms were exceptionally clean and smelled good; the walls and tubs were clean. We had a small refrigerator in the room and a table and chairs. We only wished we had a balcony. The hotel was constantly being swept of dirt and sand both inside and out; windows washed; room service available; and generous portions of good food. We later stayed at another spot and were disappointed in comparison to the caring, friendly service that we experienced at the Westin Reginia hotel. Perhaps the Club and its upkeep and staff are different and of less concern to the Westin chain, but since they are connected I am surprised to read of the poor reviews from others. I am sorry to hear that the club is not as well maintained as the hotel. We were considering buying there, but now will not. Again the hotel in constrast is fantastic!!

My husband and I just returned from Westin Regina & we swear not to go back to this resort ever again. We arrived one day later than our reserved week and ended up stucked on the lowest level with the garden/street view. We tried to get a room change everyday to no avail. We ended up spending every night fighting mosquitoes in our room.
We trusted Westin's quality and this is why we selected this resort for our exchange - shame on Westin for not maintaining their property! The worst part is the partial kitchen - the refrigerator had a strong foul smell; the utensils, pots & pans, toaster, and sink are rusted. The diswasher is completely rusted at the foot. All the plastics - tupperware, blender, etc. have discolored. The bath sheets are rough and we found mold in them a few times. The room was infested with ants; we also found a big roach inside our living room once.
All in all, this was by far the WORST RCI resort I've exchanged into. We were told that the better rooms are reserved for their owners, so if you plan to exchange into this place, expect the worst rooms.
We moved to Le Meridien during the last 3 days of our stay & the experience was night and day. Highly recommended!

Excellent beach and pools, a short walk to great reef snorkeling, and the restaurants are very good. Quiet for a cancun resort ( a plus), but on the southern tip of the hotel zone so a bit far from the nightlife in cancun.
