My two friends and I just returned from a week's stay here. It was absolutley incredible! The staff at The Gran Caribe Real should give lessons in customer service. The housekeeping staff was the best I have ever seen, and I am a seasoned traveler! And as if it couldn't get any better, guest services moved us to their new resort (The Real Royal, not officially even opened) which adjoins the property. Wow, what a place. I cannot wait to return, and my friends are already planning the trip and trying to decide which friends are going with us this time.

I have always found the Gran Caribe to be a very good place to stay with excellent service and we have stayed at a couple of their resorts. I am surprised to hear that someone had a problem with the A/I charges as they are fairly straight forward (unless there was confusion about the actual age of the children or the type of room requested.

Re taking 12yr old children to Cancun - during Spring Break - to a place that has all inclusive drinks -- I would think anyone would expect to see some young people doing crazy things. Anytime but spring break you would find a more calm croud so I wouldn't judge GC Resorts on your choice to go there during spring break.

We just returned from a week at Gran Caribe Resort and I am compelled to rate it so familes do not experience what we did. We sublet it from an owner and had a confirmation letter from the resort with our rate for the all in clussive. It took 45 minutes to check in with the hasseling over the price. I could not believe they want to charge us $250.00 more and disregarded the letter.I finally got them to honor the price THEY agreed too BEFORE we even arrived. I had confirmation. Next they attempted to double charge me for our shuttle to and from airport FOUR times. The front desk is run so poorly it is an bad experience every time. Keep all your reciepts and be sure to demand one as they keep nothing. The computers they pound on might as well be kids typewriters.

Now, the bad part. We were told it was a family resort and we had two 12 year old girls with us and my wife and I were shocked to the out of control binge drinking not only allowed but encouraged. People were spilling drinks in the pool, smoking in the pool and one of the events of the day was lap dancing by members to a girl who was 18 with tequilla shots all around. Pelvic thrusts by staff into the face of the girl is not for kids. I also had to leave one pool with the family when co-eds wanted to reinact "girls gone wild" and began making out in the hot tub to the cheers of their male partners

If you are 18 and looking to be crazy stupid drunk and enjoy the sun then go here. If you are a family with any values and have kids under 18--STAY AWAY. i could share so much more bad. I do not normally write reviews but hope no other family experiences what we did.

update reply--I have been to Cancun before on Spring break to "Family Resorts" (Royal Sands)and did not see what we saw here so you are so wrong. I also have traveled the world and never seen as incompetent staff at the front desk of a resort or hotel as I experienced at Gran Caribe. You go ahead and teach your kids binge drinking and as you call it Spring Break fun....be sure to save for bail too. Our values are a bit higher but to each their own.

I cannot express how much fun I had at the Gran Caribe Real resort. My wife Patty and I have traveled to many destinations and I must admit that this resort stands alone. The experience I have encountered served Patty and I as an example in how the service industry should perform. In short, the graciousness, professionalism, and genuine warmth we encounterted everyday from the staff of Gran Real Caribe was such a joy. I arrived to hear Buenos dais and how can I serve you senor. The smiles never ended right through the very end of my stay. The all- inclusive package at this chain of hotels is the best I have ever had in any of my destinations I visited, that includes cruises. It is a great feeling to be able to go to any of their hotels in the Real chain and stay for the day and eat and drink at any of their restaurants and not have to spend any more money other then what you have already spent in your all- inclusive price which by the way, also includes taxes and gratuities. Well to make a long story short I was so taken by their hospitality that I wanted to be part of their organization. My decision was to become a member. This is Real's pledge to you and me:

“Haz todo con amor” Amor a Dios, a tu familia, a tu Hotel, a tus compañeros, Amor a tus turistas. ¡SÍ FUNCIONA¡

I will interpret:

"Do everything with love"Love God and your family, hotel, fellow workers, and the turist" "Our commitment is to make it work"

This is a quote from the Real Resort Organization, and my feeling is that they are commited to develope a long term relationship with their customers. I am very happy to be part of their organization and now able to offer packages for those that are interested in having a fun filled week at the Real Resorts.
