On a scale of 1-5, I give this a 9...if it were closer to Central Park, I'd give it a 10. If I were in a room without a view, I'd still give it a 5 out of 5. For a single room, this is huge - with 2 queen beds and a full little kitchen. Huge desk area.. I wish I could live here!

We stayed here in April 2005 and this place is spectacular!!! Everything anyone would want is here, including a gigantic restaurant(it's pretty reasonable for NYC) called the Barking Dog and a fabulous spa. (Make sure you make arrangements with the concierge as soon as you check in for spa treatments as they book up quickly) We stayed here using a week from our vacation club and had a blast. There is even a bus stop the M34 right outside the door of the hotel. We walked and rode busses everywhere and the location on 34th street and Lexington couldn't have been better.
We arrived in New York via Penn Station and took a five minute cab ride to the hotel. The check in was a snap and they treated us like we were ROYALTY. The accomodations were excellent and huge for a city location like this. We had our granddaughter with us and she slept on the couch in the living room and we had a SEPARATE bedroom. And there was a full kitchen which we used for breakfast but ate all our other meals out. The concierge and door man were super helpful in finding good food at cheap prices. You'd be surprised how many inexpensive food places there are in the city. The only expense that surprised me was the New York Hotel tax. Being a timeshare owner I had never paid a tax such as this, but since this was obtained through a vacation club, and the vacation club doesn't own the Affinia, the tax was added to our bill.
You couldn't find such a great place in NYC without paying $700 a night and I can tell you I was thrilled to be treated as if I had paid that much! My family's expectations were pretty low considering we read it was a 'residential hotel," but boy were we wrong. Albert, the concierge, made sure we had everything we wanted, from theater tickets to dinner reservations, he had it all. Whatever we asked for we got and we were shown everything NYC has to offer. Oh yes, one more important thing. Since this is a spa hotel, all the shampoos, creams, conditioners, hand lotions provided were from the expensive Aveeda line and for FREE. There is even daily maid service with a full cleaning and linen change each day.
I would love to stay here again and I hope I can get another reservation in the near future.
