San Diego is known for its year-round sunny skies, pleasant temperatures, and beautiful beaches. And now, right in the middle of it all, WorldMark San Diego is ready to host you in one of the greatest cities in California. Your downtown, art deco–style resort consists of 49 studios and 19 one-bedroom units, each with a fully equipped kitchen. The five-story completely renovated property was built in 1928. And though it was a hotel before becoming your resort, progress is underway for getting the property up to WorldMark standards. Light construction is scheduled during the summer.

When the rooftop deck opens in August, you’ll definitely want to make a trip up to watch the sun sink into the warm western sky. Afterwards, walk over to the historical and always lively Gaslamp Quarter (.5 miles away) for dinner in one of Fifth Avenue’s hot spots, such as Aqua Blu, Croce’s, or, if you really want to splurge, Osetra—The Fishhouse.

You may want to block off some time for Balboa Park—only .25 miles from the resort. The park is akin to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park or New York City’s Central Park and is, in fact, the nation’s largest urban cultural park, coming in at 1,174 acres. With eight gardens, 15 museums, nine restaurants and cafes, a golf course, the San Diego Zoo, a puppet theater, golf course, and the world’s largest outdoor organ (and this isn’t even a close to a complete list), you could do something different in Balboa Park every day for the next two months.

Water lovers will also find endless possibilities. Cruise the bay on a boat excursion. Hang ten at Pacific Beach. Watch for whales at the Cabrillo National Monument. Scuba dive or snorkel off La Jolla Cove, where you’ll find an aquatic ecological reserve just waiting to be explored.
