Gondola at the front door?! Not quite but a 5 min walk is close enough! When the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain was built, a gondola was run to its front door, which is a 5 min. walk from the Christie. Gone are the long bus rides to the slopes! Which makes the Christie Lodge a 5 star ski vacation value.

Enjoy!

Feb skiing is great time! lots of snow and sunshine! Staff is very friendly and will help accomodate you anyway they can. the kitchen has a skillet instead of an oven which was fine for most meals. there is a great pizza joint right across the street! we were very comfortable there and had great weather and skiing!

Several posts are in error. One mentioned this was a converted hotel (it is not). We bought a 3br/3bath on opening day and have seen no less than three major remodels since hte early 80's. Location is fantastic unless you are looking for a ski in/out in which case you are in the wrong place. This place is for people who want to ski with or without their families. Very functional with convenience being the key word. Restaurants, ski shop, sauna, hot tubs and two pools on site. Covered garage. When we come, we park the car and rarely use it during the week. The city bus takes you everywhere and is free and clean.

Downsides: it is a bit dated. Kitchen has no oven so it is really a kitchenette. Summers are hot. (winters are obviously fine). Strange hallways with multiple levels have aleays been frustrating. Single rooms are a bit small but the three bedrooms are great for 1 to 3 couples plus a few kids.

The Lodge went through a recent remodel but I have not seen it yet. Reports have been favorable.

Though clean, frankly this place is a dump but it does serve its purpose in this excellent location. It is old, has multiple levels & only one elevator.

Staff is pleasant. Our multiple bedroom floorplan was wierd. Local access is good.

Note that exchange availability is nearly constant, reflecting established owners not staying here constantly.

We stayed in a one bedroom unit at CHRISTIE LODGE in July, 2006.

This Silver Crown resort is very well maintained, and their staff is friendly and efficient.

The scenery is unbelievable in the Vail Valley (Vail, Avon, and Beaver Creek). Golf, Hiking,, Biking, and ,River Rafting kept us occupied in this beautiful area.

We would not hesitate to stay at this resort in the future.

I stayed here during the recent holiday week on the $99 nightly hotel special they were running last month for Jan-March reservations. We thought the place very nice for the rate we paid. Extremely friendly staff. Daily housekeeping for hotel guests was limited, but a plus. Rooms are very small though for what one would expect of a 1-bedroom condo.

My family has been coming to The Christie Lodge every year for the past 20 years. We always have a great time. The rooms have been updated throughout the years...the last update really opened up the living area and now that our kids are teenagers we appreciate the extra space. The kids love having Subway inside the hotel because they are so wiped out after skiing all day! My husband and I can walk across the street and enjoy a quiet evening meal. Beaver Creek ski mountain is only a 5 minute FREE shuttle ride away - the new Avon Gondola is really cool! Some years we rent a car and drive about 20 minutes to Copper Mountain - less expensive lift tickets!

We have been owners at The Christie Lodge for 15 years or so and have used our weeks often for skiing at Copper Mt, Vail and Beaver Creek during the peak ski season, Jan through March - including this past week.

It is a great location with good restaurants all around the area. It is easy to get take-out nearby or in the building when you do not want to go out. We have often been able to trade our weeks for other great locations.

We stayed there Dec27-Jan 3, 2009. This place is an old converted apartment complex into a hotel style timeshare. We had the 1 bedroom that sleep 5.

The good: It is cheap and located close to stores. The indoor hot tub is nice but gets crowded. Easy to get to Beavercreek and Vail. We drove and did not take the buses due to our small kids.

The bad: There is only one set of elevators. If you are not staying close to the elevator you have go up the stairs to your room. This means you must carry your luggage up 2 different set of stairs as we did. The single bed is not what one would consider a single bed. It is 24 inches wide and 6 feet long. I would not trust my kids on it much to narrow. We requested a roll away bed. This came with a mattress that was 1 inch thick and springs missing on it. The room itself was dirty. The sofabed had food left in it. The kitchen is extremely small. The oven is a combination toster oven and microwave. The refrigerator was a small size similiar to the embassy suites.

This is not a good place to stay if you have children under 6 or if there are more than 3 people. Would recommend bring a aerobed instead of sleeping on the sofabed.

We will not be returning.

The location is excellent as I like to use this for home base and luxury relaxation as my husband camps every summer.

I spend one day in Vail (excellent shopping and dining), one in the mountains hiking Yampa, a day driving the Shrine pass down to Red Cliff where I always see something breathtaking (I am a photographer), a day in Steamboat Springs some years, a day at the spa in Glenwood Springs others, some years a day in Aspen.

Christie Lodge in Avon is central to all and then I usually take one day in the middle of the week just to read and relax and look at the mountains from the balcony. The library is nearby (library cards are free) with a nice park, and good restaurants and a City Market (upscale grocery) are all within walking distance of the timeshare, so everything you need is handy. This is one of the most beautiful spots in the US, so go prepared to see the nearby sights and enjoy!

An unmitigated summer disaster. We rented sight unseen (will never do that again). Arrived and the 3 br. unit was 85 degrees in the room, with no air conditioning. Only one window or door to the outside opened - and that was in the living room. So no air circulation to the bedrooms. The decor was "early settler" as in somewhere between 1960 and 1970. Dank, dusty and dark.

Avoid this place like the plague!

I,ve been an owner 20 years. All amenities are conveniently located. Beautiful area and drive from Denver or anywhere. It's easy to reserve a unit or use bonus time. Lots of activities. I"ve exchanged my units over the years using RCI to super places in the US and all over the world, never had a problem, because Christie has a very high priority exchange rating. It is very well-kept and all the help are super friendly. It is the best ski area, anywhere in US.

We stayed in one bedroom condo in March 2006 - 3 people. This resort has 2 types of units - one or three bedrooms. The one bedroom unit has one queen bed in the bedroom area and a sleeper sofa in the living room. Some people state that a little sitting bench in the hallway could also be used as a bed - I don't share that opinion.

Pluses: non-smoking, clean, modern, well maintained unit, nicely equipped kichen, wood burning fireplace, premium TV channels + DVD player, ceiling fan in the bedroom, close to expressway, with several restaurants and food store within walking distance.

Minuses: unit very small, bedroom w/o window to open, limited Internet access, Subway restaurant "smell" inside the resort.

Altogether good value for the money for 4 people max. - do not trust anybody who says you could accomodate 5-6 people in the one bedroom unit!

My husband and I stayed in a one-bedroom for a week in September 2005. There are MANY, MANY STEPS in the building, and no convenient elevator.

The views from our deck were wonderful. The staff was pleasant. Hot-tubs were relaxing. Plenty of parking behind the building (more steps). Our unit was directly above the Subway, so we enjoyed the smell of fresh bread daily starting at 6 a.m.

Just a short drive from Beaver Creek and Vail, 2 areas which must be seen to be believed.

Christie Lodge has been recently renovated. This resort is so cool. It felt so secure, we let our kids (9, 15 & 17) roam freely throughout the complex. The 3BR unit was a bit small, but did suffice. We had nine people - one slept on the sleeper sofa.

The staff at the Christie Lodge were very pleasant and efficient. The shuttles were waiting at the front door every ten minutes to take you to Beaver Creek or Vail. There is onsite eating and ski rental. You can walk to restaurants, specialty shops, and Wal-Mart.

A snow storm blew through while we were there. The result was an unbelievable view on the mountains. The second best view ever (Maui’s Road to Hana).

Beaver Creek is a newer, upscale ski resort. It is TOO nice to explain. You must visit to believe it. Much nicer than 90% of the ski resorts we have been to.

Good Luck

Stayed in a 1-bdrm over thanksgiving week with 2 adults, 1 teenager, and a newborn. Rooms are very small, but it was the best bang for the buck.

Staff was great, refurbished room, very convenient to Vail, Beaver Creek, and area attractions. Rode bus to Vail, and bus to Beaver Creek stops right out front.

Only giving it a 3* because of the size of the room (very small). The 3-bdrms have much more room but no difference in kitchen/livingroom size. We had a great stay.

The Christie Lodge is absolutely wonderful. It's easy to catch a shuttle to Vail for skiing and boarding. It's very family-friendly with lots of stuff to do. There is (or at least the last time I was there) a GREAT Greek restaurant in the lodge. There's also a Subway.

I give this property a very high rating. As a die hard Skier with the snow boarder kids we want to enjoy the season. Frankly I would love to stay in a larger place however in the middle of ski season lodging is very expencive in the Vail Valley. Avon is conveniant and Christy is the most affordable and quite nice location in the valley.

IF you want to ski in your room, Christy is not for you. but if you wish to enjoy Vail and like to have some cash to enjoy the real reason your in Vail, Christy is the best bang for the buck.

There sometimes is cheaper lodeing at the comfort inn a block away, however that is the old rundown hotel, no Kitchen, etc... You know it is true, you get what you pay for. Christy is Super Clean, remodeled but very efficiant with the layout considering the you have a lot of sleeping room per sq foot. Realize you are at the nicest and most expencive ski area in North America.

You deside, Good Luck

We stayed here in the summer time and enjoyed every minute. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are rather small, and well kept. We were traveling with our two young children and on a limited budget. If you want a cheaper room, try the local motels at 70-125 per night, thats if you can even find one at that rate. You will not be disappointed at Christie's.

As an owner here, I have stayed in the smaller 1 bedroom unit, and when I had guests, I stayed in the larger 3 bedroom unit. Both were very nice, clean, and really more than adequate. The type of vacations I am interested in do not include staying in the resort all the time, and I love the amenities of the resort, the friendly staff, and the beauty of the mountains and the area. there is a lot to do here, both in the summer and in the winter months!

We are owners at Christie Lodge, and have been using our "Bonus Days" lately. I really enjoy coming to the Lodge, because it's a very homey place. People gather freely in the common areas and are very friendly. The only drawbacks were the slippery tile around the indoor pool, and the uncomfortable fold-out couches and bunks. I really like the new decor and can't wait for the rooms to be completed as well.

My impression is a rabbit warren, or a beehive. Over 250 rooms crammed with beds in one building, equals over 1000 people in a single building during ski season.

No cooktop or oven (front desk will loan you a crockpot!??) 350 sq.feet, sleeps 4?? Very small.

Very good location, building is in pretty good shape. There is a subway sandwich shop in the building, that part of the building smells like onions (not unpleasantly so).

It would be like spending a week in a sleeper car of a train, kind of. The bunkbeds are built into a wall across from Master bedroom (also tiny) and are only suitable for children. Hot tubs put you on display in the well lit atrium for everybody's viewing pleasure as they leave or enter their rooms.

If you seriously HAVE to go to this area, and can't afford a condo, I guess this closet would do, but I would hate to spend a week there. I guess you should plan on only going there to sleep.

Staff was great, convenient location. However, I have never stayed in such a TINY unit, also parking seemed to be a problem.

There are a variety of units and the one- bedrooms are small and remind you of staying in a narrow, modular home. All or almost all units have front door entries from the atrium that extends the length of the building. Units near the indoor pools in the atrium could hear lots of noise. This resort is not fancy, but is worth it if you spend most of your time doing oudoor activities.
