We stayed here on exchange in October 2005 for our 2nd anniversary. We were originally booked for the Beach (adjoining property). We were given a smaller room than we had booked through RCI, and there was construction right outside our unit, so we were moved to the Palace. The room here was smaller, but newer and cleaner, and the Palace has a more 'exclusive' feel, though guests are allowed to use either property: pools/restaurants/entertainment are all interchangeable to either property's guests. We paid a total of $700 for the all-inclusive package. Food was OK, several restaurants for which reservations are required, two buffets. Not enough choice of cuisine for my husband. Americans are the minority here. You will hear very little English spoken. Most of the guests are Europeans - mostly Italians. The properties are beautiful, well-manicured, and the ocean is literally right there. Several pools with lots of daily activities, led by an 'animation team' who work from dawn to dusk. Night-time entertainment is lacking. There is a 'show' each evening, put on by the same animation team - it's OK, but nothing spectacular, and you literally lose something in the translation, as everything is said in Italian, German, Spanish, French and English. The disco opens at midnight, but we never saw anyone there prior to 2am. You can take excurisons from the property to different areas around the island - we didn't. We went to relax, sit around the pool or beach and enjoy eachother. SO this place was fine for us. But if you're looking for anything else, look elsewhere!
