Delray is woderful town to visit. Plenty of shopping and resturants along A1A. Berkshire By The Sea is a very well manitained and enjoyable resort... the location is perfect. We have stayed there year after year and have enjoyed our stay each and every time. The beaches are beautiful. The staff at Berkshire is friendly and accomodating. The units in the newer building have all been updated with new furniture and decor. It's a wonderful vacation spot.

My husband & I just stayed at Berkshire by the Sea for a week in February 2008. Very quick check-in, no hassles, resort is just across beautiful Delray Beach. However, we didn't know there were two sections to the resort. One section is newer, with elevators and nice balconies. Our section was old, and in a 2-story building so we had to carry all our luggage up the cement stairs (no elevator). The unit was ok, very small kitchen & LR area, decent sized bedroom and a small bath. This was called a "1 BR Efficiency"... it also had a pull-down murphy bed for 2 people in the LR, which would be ghastly tight quarters, and there's only 1 sofa & 1 chair in the LR area. We did have a nice view of the pool area from our deck. There are 2 pools & a nice hot tub. The newer building is white, and has 4 or 5 stories; there are two 2-story buildings, one on each side of the pool area. We rented from RCI and it was a good deal money wise. We met many people who stayed in the white building, and they said it's very nice.

The review posted by Mr. Cummings in April 2003 fails to note that his stay at this resort took place over 8 years ago. The units were upgraded and renovated thereafter. Berkshire by the Sea has received RCI's Resort of International Distinction award for many years, and deservedly so. The units and grounds are meticulously clean and well cared for. There are two swimming pools on site and a beautiful beach across the street. It is a short walk to the very interesting and friendly town of Delray Beach which has several restaurants, sidewalk cafes, galleries, boutiques, etc... Homes in this area sell for close to a million dollars.

The one bedroom unit (with a terrace) that we stayed in last year was bright and spacious, and the furniture and decor was lovely. It had a full and very well equpped kitchen, a modern bathroom, a huge bedroom with kingsize bed, desk, dresser, television, and an entire wall of mirrored closets. There was also a huge walk- in closet in the foyer which was almost the size of a standard small bedroom. The huge livingroom/dining room area had a sleeper sofa, televison, stereo system, etc... I'd love to own a condo like this when we retire!

This resort has two sections. We stayed in the older section which was terrible. THis is absolutely the worst resort we have ever been to. the 1 BR unit is tiny with a bathroom equivalent to what is on an airplane. When we complained about it, II refunded our week and admitted that it was pretty bad.

The only good thing about it is that it is in a good location right across from a very nice beach.

Hopefully the newer section is nicer.
