Not the Ritz, but the prices aren't either and this one is right on the beach. This is one for ordinary, friendly folk with no pretensions.

The best beach in the continental USA and located in prime area for access in busy season or walks to active part or park part of a 7 mile beach with powder white sand and gentle slope into water where you see porpoises swim by. Walk to many restaurants and shopping or drive to city of Ft. Myers. Fish markets over the bridge for stone crab, shrimp boats who come to this - their home port, all kinds of fish, etc.

We've stayed here for over ten years (who counted?) and keep coming back with the kids, their friends and in-laws and more. The same people keep coming back but as some got older and the economy got worse, there are some openings in high season. A broad range of people at the resort who meet at the pool and BBQ and rec area, all of which is sunlit all day and views the beach. See spectacular sunsets and enjoy the gentle weather of the Florida west coast (after hurricane season in summer and early fall - just kidding - not that often!)

The resort is older, but recently upgraded and totally adequate with wi-fi, multi-channel tv's, dvd, all appliances including d/w, microwave, central laundry, large fridge, etc. We have a two bedrooms (both small - but who stays in there anyway?) with great views and small deck. Living and dining room with open plan to kitchen(full) counter Has high power A/C for Eskimos (or Canadians like us) but we open windows for light gulf breezes. Grounds are well looked after and beach is at your doorstep - no need for shoes. FMB is very safe compliments of Lee County Sheriff's Dept. and people walk beach and pier at night, with busker entertainment in high season. Shrimp festival and parade in March and other activities, library, and all facilities of a town a few blocks away. Conservation area a few more blocks the other way.

Resort staff is friendly, accomodating and helpful with advice and recommendations as to restaurants, etc. Y'all come back now, y' hear? This is southwestern Florida!

Last review in 2004? Well, here's a more recent review. Overall, we really liked this place. We had a 2br, 1ba timeshare, it was fine for our family of 3, but probably would have been overcrowded if we invited 2 more guests. Location is really nice, right on the beach, just walk 20-50 feet (depending upon where you stay), and you're staring at the Gulf beach in front of you. And the beach is really nice, 20-30 yds wide with soft sand and a gradual slope in the water. There's Ft. Myers beach public access nearby, but it's just far enough away that you never feel like they're invading your turf. Nice balcony views of the beach and swimming pool area. The room decor is ok, nothing fancy, but it's absolutely workable for a week. Kitchen had all the utencils needed, bathroom was fine. No pressure tactics, no "take a tour", just a nice lady waiting to check you in and out. Asked for a light bulb to replace a missing one, and voila, 2 minutes later, got it. I really think this is a neat little gem that not too many people know about. I would absolutely stay here again. I just wish that my week didn't end so quickly.

This is a great location, friendly staff. Although the units are older and rather small, it is well managed, clean, and a family atmosphere. We have made a large number of trades over the years, but really enjoyed this one!
