Per the owner: Tangalooma - an island off the coast of Brisbane in Queensland, which has a lot of foreign visitors because it is a very "ecological focused island" with porpoises, beaches, and lots of activities for both youth and older tourists. There is a ferry trip to get to the island, but it could be a possible "exotic location" for Americans visiting Australia, or for say Canadians or Americans wishing to avoid the northern hemisphere winter, as it is always quite warm when it is cold in North America - we call them "snow birds" who fly in to avoid the cold!

  • Tangalooma Island Resort

    Moreton Island, Australia

A tropical island paradise located in Moreton Bay, only 15 minutes by air or about one hour by a Flyer Ferry boat from Brisbane. Amenities for a fun-in-the-sun vacation are available, including a swimming pool, tennis courts, fishing, diving, sailing, waterskiing, snorkeling, surf skis, organized tours, sand tobogganing, a restaurant, lounge entertainment, and national parks. Tangalooma is also one of the rare places in the world where wild dolphins can be hand-fed.

A wonderful natural area marred a little , I thought , by a rather unusual, even " Nazi like" attitude of some of the staff at the resort front desk. The problem seemed to be one standard for the "hotel" guests and another for the "timeshare Guests" with the latter being the second class citizens. It was , we were told "illegal" to feed the dolphins that come to the resort if you were a time share guest. The hotel guests get tickets which enable them to do it. Other irritating episodes of VERY POOR SERVICE did not however spoil our stay.
