  • Hurricane House

    Sanibel Island, Florida

On a secluded strip of shell-strewn beach, beautiful Hurricane House shelters vacationers with the same warmth and hospitality of the original resort. A heated outdoor pool and two bubbling whirlpool spas will refresh you after beachcombing in the Florida sun. Additionally, guests will enjoy complimentary tennis privileges and greens fees at the nearby eighteen-hole championship golf course at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club.

Hurricane House's two-bedroom suites offer all the comforts of home, including a fully-equipped kitchen, in-unit washer and dryer, TV with DVD player and plenty of room for up to six to spread out and relax. Of course, you certainly won't forget you're on vacation, either - glossy rattan furniture, island-inspired decor, sunny color scheme and your very own screened-in lanai boasting a magnificent Gulf view will make sure of that!

From its ideal shore-side setting, Hurricane House puts guests within easy reach of all of Sanibel’s best offerings, from water sports and fishing excursions to biking paths to beaches primed for shell hunting. Sanibel is often regarded as showcasing natural Florida at its best, and those seeking to savor the area's unique ecosystem will certainly want to explore the J.N. “Ding” Darling national wildlife refuge, home to hundreds of species of birds, reptiles and mammals.

Stayed here the week after New Year's 2007 and was very pleased with this reasort because it was quiet, but not secluded. It was right on beach so you could hear waves, smell a little ocean air and walk the beach from convenient private walkway. Depending on unit you might need to be prepared to walk to second floor for bathroom facilities and laundry, but units were clean, well maintained and well stocked. Please note there are elevators in each building for saving you the outside access stairwells with luggage and/or groceries. Excellent location for just enjoying peace and quiet while you listen and view the waves. There are no resort sponsored activities which was fine with us since so much of the island is easily accessible by car or bike and added to the peaceful atmosphere.

fabulous place. very small with only 15 units and quiet. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Comes with free golf at the Dunes. No better place in January than Sanibel. Excellent gulf front views. Sunsets are wonderful.
