Are you looking for a way to help Japan’s earthquake and tsunami victims? Both Marriott and Hilton are offering a means by which their guests and vacation club members can donate to victims of this unrelenting tragedy.

  1. Marriott
Redeem Marriott Rewards points for donations to the Red Cross. From now through May 15, 2011, Marriott Rewards members can redeem their points for donations to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and all donations will be directed to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Japan Earthquake and Tsunami relief efforts to help survivors of the earthquake and tsunami.

For more information about donating Marriott Rewards points to the Red Cross, members can go to www.marriott.com/rewards/usepoints/donatePoints.mi and select the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies options.

  2. Hilton
To aid in the relief effort, Hilton HHonors™ has partnered with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to help victims in Japan. If you would like to support the effort, Hilton has arranged for HHonors members to be able to donate points to sustain aid and relief in the affected regions.

As part of its point donation program, Hilton HHonors has pledged that it will match total member donations dollar for dollar up to $250,000 for Japan. Hilton HHonors converts all donated points to cash for a contribution to the IFRC’s Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF).

How to Donate Your HHonors Points:
HHonors points may be donated in increments of 10,000. Each 10,000 HHonors point donation equals a US$25 donation. One hundred percent of your donation will go directly to the IFRC fund you select.

    By Email:
Send an email to HHonors_Giving_Back@hilton.com detailing the number of points you’d like donated to either the General or Japan IFRC fund (must be in increments of 10,000) and include your name, address, Hilton HHonors account number, and the appropriate Reward Code. You will receive an email confirming your request.

    By Phone:
You can call the nearest Hilton Reservations and Customer Care center and request the appropriate reward code. The representative will deduct the points required for donation from your account.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies leads as the world’s largest humanitarian institute, offering assistance without inequity as to nationality, race, class, political views or religious principles.

The organization encompasses roughly 186 member Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, as well as more than 60 strategically located delegations supporting activities all over the world. During the last decade alone, almost two billion people have been affected by disasters world-wide and assisted directly as a first-response organization by the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.
