Why You Need a Timeshare Vacation with the Kids Following a Divorce

published on November 5, 2012 by

Divorces take a toll on the entire family. Your kids are often those who are most deeply hurt, and often those who experience pain most quietly.

If you want to make sure that your family has a chance to move on from the divorce process, you may want to take a timeshare vacation.

Why it’s Good to Go. Divorces can be messy and painful. Vacations, when they go well, are the opposite. If you want a chance to allow your family to heal after the divorce process, a vacation can be a great tool. It can get you away from painful memories and let your family create new memories that have no relation to the past.

While the pain from the process will not go away, it does help everyone to have a new beginning. When you go home, you can cope — for the duration of the vacation, though, you should celebrate being with one another.

About the Family. It is only natural to try to make a getaway about yourself after a divorce. If you have kids, though, you need to make sure to make it about the family. Try to plan activities that will let you all have time together and never let them feel like they are being left out.

Many children feel a sense of abandonment after a divorce, especially if full custody goes to one spouse. This is your chance to let them know that no matter what happens in their lives, you will always be around.

The Tough Topics. You also have to realize that, at some point, the tough topic of the divorce is going to come up on your vacation. Unfortunately, there is relatively little you can do to avoid this, but you can embrace the chance to talk about it in a neutral setting.

Instead of trying to make your kids focus on “having a good time,” you can be frank with them. This is not a time to bad-mouth your spouse or get into the real reasons behind the divorce, but it can be a good chance to have a candid conversation.

Vacationing does not solve problems, but it can help to put you in a better state of mind. You only need a few days for such a trip, but it can do a great deal of good. If you want your kids to have a chance to move on, you might want to give them a chance to go on vacation with you.

A timeshare rental offers a home-away-from-home environment that will further support the children in feeling a sense of comfort and stability during the vacation.
