If you’re planning a Spring Break timeshare vacation, why not go where spring is literally bursting out all over– Washington, D.C., and the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

Beginning on the First Day of Spring, March 20, 2013, and running through April 14, the National Cherry Blossom Festival will celebrate spring with the blooming of nearly 3,750 Yoshino cherry trees, gifts from Japan.

Peak blossom time, defined as the opening of at least 70% of the cherry blossoms, is predicted this year to be April 3-6.

The Festival kicks off on March 20 with the annual Pink Tie Party, which features delicious spring-, cherry- and blossom-inspired cuisine and cocktails from the area’s top chefs. The fundraiser benefits National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to “promoting the beauty of nature and international friendship through year-round programs, events, and educational initiatives that enhance our environment, showcase arts and culture, and build community spirit.”

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on April 13 is the culmination of the planned events. Rain or shine, this popular parade makes its way down Constitution Avenue with vibrant costumes and blossom-inspired décor, colorful helium balloons, elaborate floats, marching bands from across the country, and exciting street performers.

There are a number of different types of tours from which you can choose as your special way to view the beautiful blossoms of this spring spectacular: from paddle-wheeler tours to Tidal Basin pedal boats; from “Cherry Blossoms at Sunrise” to “Cherry Blossom Afternoon Delight;” from “Bike and Roll” to private yacht.

In addition to viewing the cherry blossoms, plan to enjoy the D.C. Metro Food Tour: Experience the National Cherry Blossom Festival through the history, architecture and most importantly, local cuisine. “Expand and challenge the palette with an array of delicious dishes inspired by both cherries and the area’s Japanese influence.”

Washington, D.C., area timeshare rentals are budget-friendly and can make your Cherry Blossom spring break a delight.
