This is RedWeek’s 1000th blog post – and we’re celebrating with Candy!

June is National Candy Month. It is also the first full official month for summer travel. Get started on your summer timeshare vacation plans by visiting New York City and indulging your sweet tooth at one of these top 5 candy stores in the Big Apple:

1. Dylan’s Candy Bar (see top photo). Owned by Ralph Lauren’s daughter, Dylan, this isn’t your average candy store. The candy shop is home to over 7,000 different candies from around the world, and also sells candy-themed accessories such as iPhone cases, pajama pants, and stationary.

From giant everlasting lollipops to five pound chocolate bars, Dylan’s is the perfect place in NYC to celebrate National Candy Month.

Can’t make it to New York during National Candy Month? Dylan’s Candy Bar can also be found in Palm Springs, CA, at Marriott’s Desert Spring Villas Resort.

2. Sugar Factory American Brassiere. Head down to New York City’s Meatpacking District to visit this one-of-a-kind sweet shop. Sugar Factory American Brassiere is home to the original, and amazing, lollipop passion goblet.

3. Economy Candy. Stocking old time candies such as Charleston Chew, Pop Rocks, and Sugar Daddys, you can reminisce in this neighborhood candy store. It has just about everything under the candy rainbow; old and new. Even more, you can find the candies by color as you reminisce chewing your Tootsie Roll.

4. The London Candy Co. Deeming itself a boutique British confectioner, offering “approved-by-the-Queen Cadbury’s” chocolates, The London Candy Co. offers England’s most cherished sweets right in Manhattan. Rowntree’s wine gums, Horlick’s malted milk drinks are among the favorites.

If you’ve never tasted the difference between Cadbury chocolate made in England, and that made in the U.S., you’re in for a real treat.

5. Candy Cab. The next time you want to hail a cab, flag down the Candy Cab. This taxi is run by Mansoor Khalid. Once you’re inside, Khalid will flick on the lights and music, and provide you with a fist full of candy.

Offering this sweet ride does not come cheap for Mr. Khalid. The average cost to fill the car with candy is $300 a month. So why does he do this? Khalid works tirelessly because he believes it just takes one act of kindness, or in his case, sweetness, to turn someone’s day around.

Enjoy these and other fine confection stores in New York City during National Candy Month by staying in a New York City timeshare rental. They start as low as $171/night right in downtown Manhattan.
