Re: Hyatt vacation club

We just bought a ts at Pinon Pointe in Sedona. I dropped out of a Westin timshare purchase on Maui three years ago since their system just didn't make sense to me cost-wise. But this one I am keeping. The Hyatt system seems a lot more flexible and lucrative, especially when you buy at a resort that's less expensive and has low maintenence costs. We bought a Platinum week - 2 bedroom - biennual - worth 2000 points. We are more interested in our points than in this particular week, even though we did like the Sedona resort a lot. From doing a lot of research on TS companies, the Hyatt properties looked by far the most appealing to us. It may be difficult to get into their ski resorts at certain weeks, but we are not crazy skiers, so this won't be a problem for us. We were told (by Hyatt and by other owners) that all we need to do - when we want to take advantage of our points - is book far in advance. Since we have an 8 year-old daughter, we have to do that anyway. We're also planning to take advantage of Intervale International. We haven't found a lot of resorts that look appealing to us (we are somewhat picky when it comes to the interior design of resort rooms - most look terribly dated), but there are some that appear to be nice and somewhat tasteful and we are planning to give the Hyatt reservation center at least 3 resort options when we want to book outside the Hyatt system. We are looking forward to our first TS vacation. 2000 points could get us two 1-bedroom (beach) vacations through Intervale each year or one 1-bedroom vacation in a Hyatt and maybe another midweek 4-day special in another Hyatt resort. We figured, if it's any timeshare company, then it's this one. And Sedona is a bargain compared to most of their other properties.
