First of all, the VIP benefits do not justify the additional cost (10 fold) to buy from the developer (IMHO). You are better off buying Wyndham points for 1 - 2 cents per point, from the resale market, rather than pay 16 to 17 cents per point from the developer. However, to count towards VIP status, points must be bought from the developer, VIP status is not given to resale points. As I said though, the VIP benefits are not worth the extra cost. Second, you should consider your own situation before rushing off and converting your fixed week to points. If you travel regularrly to the same resort, on the same week each year, keep the wek. But, if you like to visit different places, at different times of the year, then points are the way to go.
