"Returning" a timeshare...

In case you don't have access to the article entitled "One Person's ... want", his 5 basic suggestions were: 1) Advertise for sale. 2) Stop paying maintenance fees. 3) Do not provide for inheritance in your will (that one went over my head). 4) Negotiate a termination with your Association. 5) File a Quit Claim Deed.[/Q] Suggestion number 5 above is available, appropriate and legally valid ONLY if the Association is overtly willing to take the "deedback" in the first place. Grantee acceptance is a requisite part of any valid deed transfer. NO ONE can (lawfully) just unilaterally decide to deed a timeshare over to someone else without the knowledge, consent and acceptance of the recipient (including a resort association).
