They really are not "free." You lose all you paid for your points in the first place and in our case, anyway, we had to keep up monthly mintenance fee payments for 2-3 months until the deal was done. Plus, of course, we lost the reservations made with the previous year's points. That's just typical of Wyndham -- hands in both your pockets all the time. We're VERY glad to have them gone from our lives.
