When timeshare owners wait to the last minute to plan their exchanges then they will be left with the least desirable options for exchanges or possibly no exchanges available at all for their desired location (re: beachfront in summer, popular ski destinations in winter, holiday weeks etc.)

Exactly!!! Just think if every member waited till last minute to deposit their time, then there would be absolutly no space unless you booked last minute of course!! But then you can't get flights and time off etc... The only way RCI can give us the vacation we desire, is if a member deposits it. Timesharing is common sense for the most part...there are some things you would never learn though, the only way is to ask :)
