And in addition to all the great islands mentioned there are a lot more up and down the Atlantic and Gulf seaboards that are popular destinations including the following:

NE: Martha's Vineyard, Block Island

SE: Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Bald Head Island

SW: Sanibel and Captiva Islands

But perhaps Redweek has no listings on these therefore they were not included in their list. Anyway, there are plenty of islands right here in the U.S. to feel like you are really "taking a break from it all".
