How can I find out how many points a timeshare is worth before purchasing if it is not converted to points already? Seems like a good way to judge how easy it would be to exchange.
--------- Jeff, Go to rci.com and select the “Resort Directory” tab (you do not need an account). Pick a resort that has RCI Points indicated in the listing summary. Half-way down the resort listing page you will see a link for “RCI Points Value”. This gives you the point values of the resort based on unit size and season. If you buy a floating week, I think the point values are averaged across the different weeks. Keep in mind that this directory listing does NOT tell you what resorts are AVAILABLE at a given time. RCI also has a publication to indicate the point values for “weeks resorts”. Try www.alltimeshare.com/rcipointsregional.pdf. Otherwise go to www.alltimeshare.com, click on the link for RCI Points, and then find the link for the “RCI Points Chart”. For example, ALL Gold Crown resorts, in Florida, 1 bedroom, Red Season are 43,000 points. If you own at a “weeks resort” AND at a “points resort” you can deposit your “weeks resort” unit into your points account using the same guide. With a points account you can book into other points resorts 10 months in advance. You can use your points to book into a week's resort 2 years in advance. Hope this helps
