Even though she could not help us, she might be able to help someone out in Utah or West-type ski timeshares, so I pass this along in the spirit of helping others out (I have no knowledge of this person, except by this email):
Hello, Thank you for your email message about your timeshare property. Unfortunately, I am probably not the best person to market this for you. I am located in Utah and mostly specialize in Western USA and ski timeshares and not much of an expert in the timeshare market in New Mexico. I do have a few suggestions for you: You should become a member of TUG (Timeshare Users Group). They are located at www.tug2.net. This site is logging over 90,000 hits a week--membership costs $15.00 and that includes one free classified ad. The ads run for 3 months and usually cost $10.00. I have placed over 12 ads in the last few months and have sold 8 of them. If you mention my name (Shelley Preece with TransAction Realty as a referral) when becoming a member, I will receive a $3.00 credit. Fern Modena, a moderator on TUG, has in the past sponsored a web site that lists resale companies. Currently, she is not updating her site so some of the links may not be active or accurate. You may be able to find a resale company that will specialize more in the New Mexico timeshare market. She does not endorse these resale companies, so you will have to do your own research if you choose to use one of these companies. You can find those resale company links at www.geocities.com/fmodena/xresales.html . I have also had very good success advertising listings at www.myresortnetwork.com. There is a charge ($14.00 to $20.00) for advertising at this site. I have also had good success advertising at www.redweek.com . There is a $10.00 charge for advertising at this site. Lastly, and most importantly, do not fall victim to the resale companies that charge any money up-front...sign up fee, listing fee, processing fee, appraisal fee etc. No matter what they call it...the result is the same. You give them your credit card number and they will tell you what you want to hear. Please be extra vigilant if you do place an ad on the internet…this will certainly bring the scam companies out of the woodwork and direct them right towards you. Good luck to you and please let me know if I can help in any way. Sincerely, Shelley C. Preece, Agent
I purchases a resale week from Shelley, and she is exactly as stated - an honest, reputable agent. I talked to many agents and sellers, and found that everyone had a gimmick. Including some supposed "private sellers." Shelley was incredible, and I have referred her a couple of times since. You get no nonsense or hype, as you see with some companies, people or web-sites. She is extremely knowledgeable, and her documenation and follow-through is the best. I am a licensed real estate agent in my home state, and Shelley is definitely top drawer. She has many listings, and will work with you if possible, or offer great suggestions if she can't help. The industry needs more people like Shelley, rather than the nonsense and hype you see in many sites.
