Much to my cost, I have found out in detail about Extraweeks. I paid my money in the hope of top quality 5* accommodation. What a mistake!!!!! They are based in Alicante. The first thing I found was that when I requested a refund because my documentation had not arrived they told me in no uncertain terms that they DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS. The documentation arrived eventually so I tried to cut my losses by booking a week in a top hotel in Malta which is on their list. I wanted to go in November and the sales girl had told me that any request could be met provided I gave them at least 6 weeks notice. The reality was that they had no availabilty for the rest of this year in that hotel as it was very popular but that they had two other hotels which were available. Neither were of 5* star rating - both being 3*- and for each of them we HAD TO TAKE AN UPGRADE package (UPGRADE to 3*????) which would cost us £50 per person. Needless to say I declined. They promise absolute top quality accommodation at places all over the world but when we tried booking a week at one resort in Cornwall we were told it had been flooded and was not available but we were also informed that all weeks!!! in the UK were only mini breaks. Finally, we got our free flight and accommodation vouchers for European City Breaks which have the requirements of £40 per person admin fee and you have to give 4 alternative locations and 4 alternative dates of travel ie. no guarantees at all as to where you go or when you travel. This whole firm is a joke and I encourage you to tell all your friends not to give them any opportunity to rip you off. John B
