Since it's paid off and assuming you are up to date on the maintenance fees, then getting rid of it should be pretty easy. Try listing it for giveaway here on RedWeek's Bargain basement section. You can also advertise for free on Timeshare Users Group (aka "TUG"; tugbbs.com) in the Bargain Deals section that you want to give your unit away.
Also, try contacting the resort's Homeowners' Association and ask if it will take your unit back. The HOA might charge you a transfer fee and possibly the next maintenance fee.
If all that fails, then just stop paying maintenance fees and let it go into foreclosure. You might face a hit on your credit score as well as a bunch of annoying collection calls and letters. Just do not pay any company or law firm that claims it can get you out of your timeshare painlessly.
