Sorry if this has been asked before, but as far as exchange valuation (i.e. Points) goes, does a VIEW category (Ocean Front vs Ocean View vs Garden View) count for more/less?

Neither RCI nor II take into consideration what view a timeshare unit has in a resort as far as exchanges go. You may luck up and get a great view or you may get a lousy view ..... it's a crapshoot. Actually, RCI nor II don't have a clue as to what a depositor's view is, all they know is that a week in a resort has been deposited. They mainly focus on the number of bedrooms and other criteria.

Some resorts and chains do not assign a specific unit with your reservation at all, so the view is unpredictable. (They reserve a size & type of unit.) Some "charge" more points (or whatever) for a special view, though they may not specify the unit. Personally, I think Ocean Front units are overrated. At night, it is just BLACK out there! Ocean View units (in Fairfield/Wyndham speak at least) are not directly facing the ocean but you can see it from an angle. Or maybe from the balcony. Cities look pretty great at night. MD
