I just stayed at the Powhatan Resort and the history that was included in the materials I received when I checked in completely excluded any reference to slave labor that made the plantation so successful. Was that an unintentional oversight or was the mention of slavery omitted because it might upset the guests? As a descendent of slaves here in the US, I was offended that the history included minute details such as the name of one of the owner's horse, but no mention of the enslaved people who lived and worked on the property for free.
