Re: Re: Re: Verifying ownership with the resort (by KC):

Sorry for your loss. You don't identify WHO these calls are coming from, but unless your name is actually on the recorded deeds as a co-owner, you do not need to respond to (or even acknowledge) any such calls at any time. If you are not already listed on the recorded deeds as a co-owner, you really have no legal authority or any obligation to do anything with those timeshares. In my opinion, there is a 80+% chance that these calls are just from a scammer anyhow; ignore them and do not respond. If you are listed on the deeds as a co-owner, the resort(s) will surely be in touch to collect their annual maintenence fees --- and they will do so in writing, including a bill --- not by cold calling you on the phone. Do you know if you are listed as a co-owner on your late Dad's timeshare deeds? Did the mystery caller actually identify the resort(s) by name? If not, it was almost ceratinly just a scammer looking for someone to fleece. Call the resort(s) directly. No one here can help you with no facts or details provided.

P.S. Understand clearly that if you are not already a named co-owner on the recorded deeds, then you are NOT obligated to "inherit" those timeshares or to pay any fees or costs associated with them. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misunderstanding about that fact, perpetuated by scammers trying to make a fast buck. If you are not already named on the recorded deed as a co-owner, fees for and / or disposition of those timeshares is not your problem. Don't let anyone falsely tell you something different.
