I asked a question on couple different post months ago without a answer from Redweek about how they can come up with THIS IS FAIR PRICING!
When we were thinking of making a deposit here we found within a couple weeks the points changed and really that far in advance for a July 4th week should have gone up not down so we didn't make deposit and made 2008 exchange for Maui in May 2008 with II.
We were offering one of the top two units (Naegles) at our resort and July 4th week. There are twenty two units at our resort listed on the provisional list and I would bet 90% are the Plaza and Terrace of which you can rent or buy very cheap if you check the sites.
Redweek doesn't list what your getting except number of bedrooms and week and there is a big difference in buildings!
Units your looking at are a secret, pricing is a secret, future of this exchange is a secret! Anyone wonder why this exchange idea is just treading water when it should have taken off by now.
We thought about one resort we really like in Colo during summer which is Rams Horn in Estes Park,Colo.
We thought of this because Rams Horn deals with Rci so we couldn't use II to exchange. Redweek wants 2350 points so if a point is worth a dollar then Redweek is renting this resort for $2350 dollars.
Problem with this and I do not understand is that you can rent this resort off of Redweek or any other site for anywhere from $700- $1000 dollars for the week and this is almost any week. Tug has a ad right now for Rams Horn for 3/15/08 for $600.00.
This means if you were to get 1200 points for your unit You would still need aprox $1150 dollars to go with your points. You could have just rented it for $700- $1000 off Redweek Rental and kept your unit.
This would be a good little amount of money in Redweek pockets. They should be spending money on this exchange idea if they really want it to get off the ground.
They should be investing into getting higher tier resorts so they can get the resorts off the provisional list and on the available list and then drop this provisional list because by now even they should see this isn't bringing in many new good deposits. Owners are smarter than this and understand what works best for them and their family!
If we did our deposit we would still be waiting for Maui units to come off the showcase list. We went back to II and have booked Maui resort and have air/ car set and ready to go. Now which direction makes more sense for a timeshare owner?
How does Redweek come up with this being fair pricing in anyway?
