Has anyone stayed here? We are planning to go in July '08. What did you think of it? Is there any construction going on? How would you rate it for amenities and cleanliness? Thanks!
=========== It's been years since we've stayed there, so I can't tell you of the current conditions. But here's what I can remember. If I had to give it a rating, it would be a 5 out of 10. Nothing fabulous, nothing terrible. We stayed in a studio unit that was perfect for two people. The furnishings were nice and the staff was courteous. I remember the pool area being small. The beach was just that...a beach. There were no restaurants on the premises and there were very few activities. We used to walk across the causeway for some "local" flavor. Let me know if it has changed much from this description Mike

Thanks, Mike! We have read some not-so-favorable reviews. We are mainly concerned with the cleanliness and the on-going construction. It sounds like there are many things for a family to do in the near-by area. It's not easy to get an exchange these days.

========== I looked at Trip Advisor. It appears there is still ongoing construction. I'm not sure what family activities are in the immediate area, though you are less than an hour from Tampa and Busch Gardens. When are you planning on going?

We are going the week of July 19th. I think there is construction of John's pass, and it sounds like we are very close to this. Have you heard of a pirate's cruise for the family?

============= I haven't heard of a "pirate's cruise", but I as said, it's been years since I was last down there. It was just my wife and I on a relaxation trip, so I wasn't searching for any such activities. I do remember para-sailing and water sports being in the area. The website for the local chamber of commerce is www.treasureislandchamber.org. Call them and they should be able to help.

Another site is www.treasureisland-fl.com. There are more activities in St. Pete's, Clearwater, and Tampa. Disney World is about a 2 hour drive, but that can make for a long day. You said, "it was not easy to get an exchange these days". I'm curious...were you looking specifically for the Gulf Coast? There's usually plenty of Orlando area unit available in the summer. In any case, enjoy yourself, but don't expect a Marriott. All I've ever expected from a TS was a clean, functional unit and a courteous staff. Have Fun Mike
