I'm quite puzzled by the contents of this post.

Sometimes, in the purchase of a timeshare from the original developer (not a resale market purchase), the developer sometimes "throws in" an initial membership to one of the exchange companies (RCI or II, depending on the exchange company with which that resort is affiliated). This initial membership in an exchange company has a value of about $100. However, after that initial "gift" membership period expires, continuation of that exchange company membership is a completely voluntary CHOICE and completely up to the individual member. The membership fee is billed directly to the member by (and then paid directly to) the exchange company itself. Exchange company membership (or the fees for such membership) is a completely voluntary and individual choice and has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with (and is not included in) any resort fee bills such as maintenance fee bills. Accordingly, the belief that anyone pays for (voluntary choice) exchange company membership via resort fees is incorrect and a misrepresentation of the true facts.
