Many people simply can't afford to keep their timeshares in this economy, but you don't seem to be in that category. If you sell you sell, if you don't you can afford to keep it.
The vast majority of people that bought from the developer actually think they can resale for what they paid initially but it won't happen. If people wanted to pay developer prices they would buy straight from the resort in the first place. The developer has high overhead and he has to make a profit, that's why developer weeks cost so much more than resale weeks.
